Job overview:

We are looking for a Creative Director to lead our design function at FirstCut Design

Studio. This person will play a pivotal role in the design outputs across all projects from brand identities and wall graphics to internal communication campaigns, decks, social media, event collaterals and more.

Instead of managing the full design team, you will own the project's creative outcome and collaborate with the designers as needed based on project requirements.

You will set the creative bar, provide clear direction, review and refine work, and build a culture of craft, consistency and curiosity. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves big ideas and sweating the details.

Creative Leadership & Vision:

Own the creative vision for creative design projects at Firstcut.

Translate client briefs and business objectives into sharp, impactful visual ideas and

concepts.

Review and guide designs across branding, corporate communication, digital, print,

environmental graphics and video-linked assets.

Team Leadership & Mentoring:

Lead, manage and mentor the team of designers (junior to senior) as per project requirements.

Set clear expectations, give constructive feedback and run regular design reviews.

Identify skill gaps and drive upskilling through workshops, references, critiques and training.

Help build a high-performing, collaborative design culture that balances creativity with accountability.

Quality & Process Ownership:

Be responsible for raising and maintaining the quality bar for all design work in your projects

Establish and refine design standards, templates, checklists and review processes.

Ensure all deliverables meet agreed timelines, technical specifications and brand guidelines.

Work closely with project managers/account leads to prioritise work and manage bandwidth

across the team.

Client & Stakeholder Collaboration:

Join key client meetings, pitches and presentations to articulate creative rationale and defend

the work when needed.

Partner with strategy, content and events/experiential teams to build integrated solutions

rather than isolated pieces of design.

Help simplify complex B2B/IT stories visually, especially for large enterprise clients.

New Business & Studio Growth:

Contribute to pitches with strong visual ideas, decks and mock-ups.

Help shape the visual identity of FirstCut itself across touchpoints.

Bring in inspiration, references and new ways of working that keep the studio ahead of the curve.

Requirements:

7+ years of experience in a creative/design role within an agency or studio environment.

Strong portfolio showcasing brand identity, campaigns, digital and print work, with clear

evidence of leading teams and complex projects.

Prior experience managing and mentoring designers (team-lead / ACD / CD level).

Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); working

knowledge of Figma or similar tools is a plus.

Strong conceptual thinking ability to take a loose brief and shape it into a clear visual

direction.

Excellent communication and presentation skills comfortable explaining design decisions to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.

Proven ability to elevate the quality of design output and maintain consistency across multiple clients and projects.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced agency setup with multiple deadlines and changing

Priorities.
