Riversong is a brand strategy and copywriting studio based, working at the intersection of language, research, and culture. We collaborate with design studios and founders to develop positioning, messaging frameworks, brand voice, and copy across packaging and web. The work begins with understanding how communities actually talk, what they respond to, and where the gap sits between what a brand wants to say and what its audience needs to hear.

Role Description

We're looking for a Creative Copywriter to join Riversong on a contract basis, working remotely from India. This is a junior role suited to someone with 1-3 years of experience who writes with care and curiosity, and wants to grow inside a research-driven process.

You'll work on client copy across packaging, websites, and brand storytelling, primarily for early-stage brands in beauty, lifestyle, and personal care. The projects come through our partnerships with design studios across India, so you'll be writing within established creative directions rather than working in isolation. You should be comfortable translating a strategic brief into language that feels natural to its intended audience, not language that sounds like it was written for a boardroom.

Riversong's process begins with research. Before we write a single line, we study how a brand's community speaks, what they respond to, and where the gaps are between what a brand wants to say and what its audience needs to hear. You'll be working within this framework, so an appetite for understanding people and context matters as much as your facility with sentences.

Day-to-day, you will

  • Write packaging copy, website copy, brand stories, and product descriptions for client brands.
  • Adapt tone and register across different brands and audiences, sometimes within the same week.
  • Work within messaging frameworks and brand voice guidelines developed during the strategy phase.
  • Collaborate with design studio partners, contributing the verbal layer to projects led by visual teams.
  • Participate in research review and briefing sessions that inform the copy direction.
  • Revise and refine your work through structured feedback rounds.

You're a good fit if you

  • Have 1-3 years of copywriting experience, ideally with some exposure to brand, packaging, or web copy.
  • Write with precision and warmth, and know the difference between clever and clear.
  • Pay attention to how different communities talk, what registers shift across audiences, and why certain words land while others slide past.
  • Are comfortable working across cultures and markets in South Asia, and understand that good copy is shaped by context, not just craft.
  • Can hold a brief and work within established strategic direction without needing to reinvent the wheel each time.
  • Are self-directed in a remote setup, responsive to timelines, and open to revision without taking it personally.

Qualifications

  • A degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is a plus but not required. What matters more is a strong writing portfolio that shows range, a sensitivity to audience, and evidence that you think about language as a tool for connection rather than decoration.
  • Familiarity with the beauty, lifestyle, or FMCG space is an advantage.
  • Comfort working with design teams and an appreciation for how copy and visual identity support each other is important.
