Key Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting & Administration:
- Draft, review, and interpret contract documents as per CPWD and/or FIDIC guidelines.
- Ensure all contractual obligations are well-defined, documented, and executed in line with project objectives.
- Manage correspondence related to contract variations, extensions, claims, and notices.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to CPWD manuals, GCC, SCC, and other government guidelines or to FIDIC contract conditions (Red/Yellow/Silver Books).
- Identify contractual risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and ensure contractual safeguards are in place.
- Coordinate with legal and procurement teams to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize exposure.
Tendering and Bidding Support:
- Assist in the preparation and review of tender documents in line with CPWD/FIDIC norms.
- Support bid evaluation and contract negotiations with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Change Orders and Claims Management:
- Analyze change orders, variations, and scope amendments; assess their impact on project cost and timeline.
- Prepare and evaluate claims for extensions of time (EOT), cost escalation, and loss of productivity.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and contractors to resolve disputes or ambiguities in contract terms.
Project Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track contract performance against key deliverables and milestones.
- Generate reports on contractual progress, risks, claims, and compliance metrics.
- Support project teams in contract interpretation and application on site.
Dispute Resolution Support:
- Assist in preparing documentation for arbitration, mediation, or legal proceedings.
- Maintain records and justifications to support claims or defend against disputes.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, legal advisors, and external consultants to align contractual activities.
- Communicate effectively with government bodies, international agencies, and regulatory authorities when required.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or related discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years in contract management for infrastructure or public sector projects using CPWD and/or FIDIC contract formats.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- FIDIC Contract Management Certification
- CPWD Works Procedure / Contracts training
- RICS / PMP or similar project/construction contract certifications
Skills Required:
- In-depth knowledge of CPWD Works Manual, GCC, SCC, and government tendering procedures.
- Hands-on experience with FIDIC contract formats (Red, Yellow, Silver Books).
- Strong understanding of legal and commercial aspects of contracts.
- Good negotiation, communication, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, contract management tools, and project management software.
- Ability to interpret complex contract clauses and apply them practically.
