Job Description
The Country HR Manager is the senior-most HR leader in India, responsible for shaping and executing the country people strategy across a complex, multi-site footprint, including a global shared services center. The role ensures strong alignment between business priorities and HR delivery, driving organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and talent outcomes at scale.
A key mandate of this role is to enable and accelerate the growth of the Global Business Services (GBS) center in Kochi, positioning it as a critical hub supporting global transformation. The incumbent will partner with global stakeholders to build scalable talent pipelines, strengthen leadership capability, and embed agile, future-ready workforce practices that underpin the center's expansion and strategic value.
Acting as a trusted advisor to regional and global leadership, the Country HR Manager provides oversight across all HR domains—employee relations, compliance, talent management, total rewards, and HR operations—ensuring consistency with global standards while effectively navigating India's regulatory environment. The role leads and develops a distributed HR team, drives operational excellence in HR service delivery, and fosters a high-performance, compliant, and engaged workforce across both GBS and site operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the India HR strategy across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with regional and global business objectives.
- Act as a strategic partner to senior business leaders, providing counsel on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership capability, and culture.
- Play a pivotal role in scaling the Global Business Services (GBS) center in Kochi, enabling talent acquisition, capability building, and workforce strategies that support global transformation initiatives.
- Oversee end-to-end HR operations, ensuring operational excellence across employee lifecycle processes, payroll governance, and benefits administration.
- Ensure full compliance with India labour laws, regulatory requirements, and alignment with global HR policies and standards.
- Drive organizational effectiveness through robust performance management, succession planning, and leadership development frameworks.
- Lead and develop a distributed HR team, building capability and ensuring consistent HR delivery across locations.
- Champion employee engagement, culture, and change management initiatives that support growth, innovation, and high performance.
- Partner with talent acquisition to build proactive, scalable hiring strategies, particularly for critical and high-growth functions within the GBS.
- Leverage HR analytics and insights to inform decision-making, track key people metrics, and continuously improve HR outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 12 - 15+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles in complex, multi-site or matrixed organizations.
- Proven experience supporting or scaling Global Business Services (GBS) / Shared Services environments, ideally within a transformation context.
- Strong knowledge of India labour laws, compliance frameworks, and global HR operating models.
- Demonstrated capability in strategic HR partnering, organizational design, and workforce planning at senior leadership levels.
- Experience leading and developing HR teams across multiple locations.
- Strong exposure to HR digitalization, HRIS platforms, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across regional and global environments.
- Experience in technology, engineering, or transformation-driven organizations is advantageous.
