Job Title: Country Director India
Role Overview
This is a newly created Country Director role with full accountability for the India business of a large, multinational organization operating across multiple business lines. The role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and external representation, ensuring strong performance, compliance, and brand presence across a complex, matrixed environment.
The Country Director will act as the senior ambassador for the organization in India, working closely with internal global stakeholders, external partners, vendors, and government bodies at both state and federal levels.
Scope & Scale
- Approx. 1,000 total staff in scope
- Operations spread across three core sites, with extensive remote working, vendor offices, and distributed locations
- India will operate as a managed services delivery location, requiring strong site management, governance, and operational consistency
Key Responsibilities
Country Leadership & Representation
- Serve as the senior representative and ambassador for the organization in India
- Proactively manage and strengthen the organization's brand and reputation in the local market
- Build and maintain effective relationships with relevant state and federal government bodies, regulators, and key external stakeholders
Business & Operational Management
- Provide handson leadership across all India operations, ensuring effective execution through both direct teams and vendor partners
- Ensure consistent application of global policies, governance standards, and compliance requirements across all sites and vendors
- Oversee facilities, site readiness, and operational infrastructure to support current and future growth
- Ensure robust due diligence when partnering with external organizations and vendors in India
People & Culture
- Lead and motivate diverse, multisite teams in a highly virtual and matrixed environment
- Build strong engagement and alignment across direct employees, vendor teams, and remote workers
- Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, humility, and cultural awareness when operating within a global matrix organization
Financial & Strategic Accountability
- Full P&L responsibility for the India business
- Drive operational efficiency, service quality, and sustainable growth
- Execute global and regional strategies locally, acting as a strong transmission layer between global leadership and incountry teams
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Senior leadership background as a P&L owner, Business Unit Head, Country Head, or Regional VPlevel leader
- Strong experience within multinational, matrixdriven organizations
- Background in IT services, technology, software engineering, or professional services environments strongly preferred
- Proven track record of managing large, distributed, multivendor workforces
- Handson leader who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels (not a retired or purely advisory profile)
Market & Cultural Fit
- Deep understanding of the India business environment
- Ideally has international experience having worked in UK, US, Australia.
- Strong ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and crosscultural dynamics
