The Cost Manager (Quantity Surveying) plays a critical role in ensuring cost discipline, procurement efficiency, and financial transparency across Zyeta's design and build projects.
This role demands a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional who brings strong expertise in quantity surveying, cost estimation, procurement strategy, and budget control. The Cost Manager works closely with project teams, procurement teams, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
You are someone who understands the financial backbone of construction projects. You bring structure to cost planning, rigor to procurement processes, and foresight to financial risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Quantity Surveying & Cost Analysis
Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurements based on project drawings and specifications.
Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for design and build projects.
Evaluate project scope changes and variations, ensuring accurate cost assessments.
Support project teams with cost validation during planning and execution stages.
Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency.
Procurement Management
Lead procurement activities for construction materials, services, and equipment.
Evaluate vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers based on capability, pricing, reliability, and quality.
Negotiate contracts and establish favorable commercial terms with vendors and service providers.
Ensure procurement processes align with company policies, ethical standards, and industry best practices.
Collaborate closely with project and operations teams to ensure timely material availability.
Cost Estimation & Budget Planning
Develop detailed and accurate project cost estimates during the planning phase.
Support value engineering initiatives by identifying cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality.
Analyze cost data and trends to provide insights that improve cost efficiency across projects.
Provide financial inputs during project planning and budgeting discussions.
Budget Monitoring & Cost Control
Monitor project budgets and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Track cost variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Work closely with project managers and delivery teams to ensure cost discipline.
Support forecasting and financial reporting related to project expenditures.
Vendor & Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Evaluate vendor performance and address issues related to pricing, delivery timelines, or quality.
Ensure vendor compliance with procurement agreements and project timelines.
Maintain a strong and reliable supplier ecosystem to support project delivery.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of quantity surveying and procurement activities.
Prepare structured reports on cost analysis, procurement progress, and budget performance.
Support project and finance teams with documentation related to financial approvals and cost reviews.
Ensure transparency and traceability in all procurement and cost management activities.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in quantity surveying and procurement within the construction or design and build industry.
Strong knowledge of BoQ preparation, cost estimation, and budget management.
Experience in vendor evaluation, procurement strategy, and contract negotiations.
Familiarity with construction software, cost estimation tools, and project management systems.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
