Why Statiq

Statiq was born with the idea of making sustainable transportation a reality in developing countries. It is a new-age start-up, leading the EV movement in India, by setting up chargers across the country. Statiq was named as the top 3 most promising start-ups by NASSCOM in the year 2020, it was the same year we got selected for Y Combinator, a Silicon Valley based accelerator program.

About the Role:

We are looking for a commercial lawyer, knowledgeable in the technology and energy sector, to provide support to Statiq and its businesses in the EV charging space. To succeed in this role, candidates should be self-motivated, enthusiastic about technology, climate, and sustainability. Candidate should also excel in working in a fast-paced dynamic company that thrives on innovation. This is a highly collaborative role, and the successful candidate will work closely with departmental heads across the business in addressing potential legal issues that heighten legal risks to the business while advising and offering legally compliant solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and other legal documents ensuring that the company's interest is protected.
  • Assess scope of work, business processes, service levels, commercial and legal aspects of contracts for potential exposure to liability risks arising from use of proprietary data, trademarks, IP, data security and non-standard terms and conditions.
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties including charging hosts, clients, real estate partners and external counsels.
  • Actively engage with tech teams for identifying potential Intellectual Property and working with external law firms to get these registered.
  • Assisting the secretarial team during board meetings, committees, and annual general meetings (AGMs) and follow up on action points.
  • Ensure policies, regulatory, or statutory changes that might affect the organization are up to date and approved by the committee.
  • Assess scope of work, business processes, service levels, commercial and legal aspects of contracts for potential exposure based on non-standard terms and conditions.
  • Standardizing the Contracting process for the organization for repeat engagements.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

  • LLB from a reputed college with a minimum of three (3) years PQE in handling legal matters in an organization in the start-up or technology sector.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively communicating (verbal and written) results to a diverse audience; ability to work with in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals.
  • High quality drafting skills and the ability to ensure attention to details.
  • The ability to work independently on matters in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and respond to business needs and goals and escalate issues timely and appropriately.
  • Know of RBI & FEMA desirable
  • Knowledge of Fund-Raising Process and associated compliances
