Job Description: Copy Editor(K-12 Curriculum)

Location: Remote

Experience: 3 - 6 yrs

Position Overview:

The Copy Editor will ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials for Grades 3-12 courses in English Language Arts, Social Science, Math, and Science. This role requires strong editorial judgement, attention to detail, and familiarity with US educational standards. Copy Editors will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), learning designers, and project stakeholders to refine content and maintain high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Editorial Excellence

Review and edit lesson plans, assessments, and supplementary materials for grammar, style, and consistency.

Ensure adherence to project-specific editorial guidelines, curriculum standards, and grade-level appropriateness.

Verify accuracy of subject-specific terminology, references, and formatting.

Quality Assurance

Identify and correct inconsistencies, redundancies, and errors in tone, language, or structure.

Track editorial changes across documents.

Collaboration and Feedback

Work closely with SMEs and instructional designers to refine content.

Provide constructive editorial feedback to enhance clarity, engagement, and instructional effectiveness.

Participate in virtual collaboration sessions with the LearningMate team to ensure alignment and progress.

Qualifications Required :

Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Journalism, or a related field.

Proven experience in copy editing, preferably in educational publishing or curriculum development.

Strong command of grammar, style, and editorial standards.

Familiarity with the US K–12 curriculum and grade-level language requirements.

Comfort with digital tools and willingness to work with AI-assisted editorial platforms (training will be provided).

Preferred

Master's degree in English, Education, or related discipline.

Experience editing across multiple subject areas (ELA, Social Science, Math, Science).

Familiarity with digital learning platforms and instructional technology.

Skills and Attributes:

Excellent written communication and editorial precision.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables.

Diplomatic approach to collaboration and feedback.

Ability to work independently and in remote, cross-functional teams.

Attention to detail with a commitment to quality and consistency.
