COO Rail

Role Purpose Statement:-

The incumbent would be responsible for direct and manage performance of the Rail Express & its operations, maintain consistent practices across the country, managing business and operations as per plan & align that plan with the company's mission and strategy at TCI Express Ltd.

Main Accountabilities:-

ؠDesigning & Implementing the Annual Operating Plan for Rail Express.

ؠDesign and manage pan-India rail express networks, optimizing routes, schedules and hub locations

ؠTo achieve products, Rail Express target business & YOY Growth.

ؠDrive expansion into Tier 2, Tier 3 cities to enable wider Rail Express reach.

ؠManage relations with Indian Railways and private rail operators to secure and optimize cargo movement slots.

ؠLead the operations of cargo handling at origin and destination stations, ensuring timely and secure loading/unloading.

ؠPreparing short term and long-term business Strategies & operational plans for Rail Express.

ؠBuild and scale a seamless pickup-to-delivery system for Rail Express shipments.

ؠEnsure operational compliance, security, and safety standards in rail Express Cargo handling.

ؠOversee day-to-day operations across all logistics functions including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and last-mile delivery.

ؠOwn the P&L for the Rail Express verticals.

ؠIdentify inefficiencies in operations and implement solutions to improve service levels, reduce costs, and streamline processes.

ؠAdherence to all safety, legal, and regulatory standards applicable to logistics and transportation

ؠSet and monitor KPIs for operational efficiency, cost control, and customer SLAs.

ؠCollaborate with product & technology teams to implement end-to-end shipment visibility.

ؠEffective control on budget receivables, monitoring direct and indirect cost, monitoring utilization of capital budgeting as per Company plan.

ؠAchievement of profit as per plan, managing finance to meet financial requirements of the Company.

ؠResource planning to meet business needs including infrastructure, human resource, capital, finance etc.

ؠPlan for Leading initiative for optimization of cost/ expenses, new initiatives on operations optimization, innovation, automation etc.

ؠLead large, cross-functional operations teams across rail corridors and cities.

ؠIntegrate mobile-based solutions for Rail cargo partner onboarding, and operations tracking.

ؠInitiative takes for improving operationalefficiency

ؠExecution of plan for increasing customer penetration, development of key account, visit/ meeting with key customers/ big account, and organizing customer meet as per company plan.

ؠExecution of brand development plan, driving initiative to raise satisfaction level of customer.

ؠHigh level of customer satisfaction through reliable service, timely delivery, and problem resolution.

ؠIdentifying Training & development needs ofkey team members and preparing adevelopment plan

ؠLead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams including regional managers and fleet/ OPS team.

ؠInitiatives on HR front to raise employee'ssatisfaction, employee engagement, expressculture building etc.

Qualification:

ؠGraduate/ Post Graduate/Professional, MBA or relevant postgraduate degree with Ex rail board employment is preferred.

Experience

ؠMinimum of 20-25 years in logistics, 15+ years in logistics rail operations with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

ؠStrong knowledge of logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, inventory and customer service

ؠExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

ؠStrong understanding of railway operations, freight scheduling, and hub-spoke logistics.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

ؠKnowledge of customs laws, regulations, and procedures in India.

ؠFamiliarity with HS codes, tariff classifications, import/export documentation, and duty structures.

ؠFamiliarity with free trade agreements, duty exemptions, and special economic zones.

ؠExcellent communication and negotiation skills to deal with customs authorities and internal stakeholders.

ؠStrong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and analytical skills.

ؠAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines.

ؠProficiency in ERP systems and customs software.
