Job Summary

We are seeking a Controls Engineer with 4–6 years of experience to develop, test, commission, and troubleshoot control systems for data center liquid-cooling equipment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in PLC programming, HMI development, PID control, instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols, with the ability to translate control requirements into reliable and robust equipment sequences.

The role will own assigned controls deliverables and work closely with the Lead Controls Engineer, electrical design, and project teams throughout the design, testing, and commissioning lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and troubleshoot PLC applications for liquid-cooling equipment, including operating sequences, pump duty/standby control, automatic changeover, interlocks, and fault handling.
• Implement and tune PID control loops for temperature, pressure, and flow regulation.
• Develop HMI screens for equipment operation, monitoring, alarms, trends, and diagnostics.
• Configure and integrate communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet, and SNMP.
• Select and configure field instrumentation, including temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, flow meters, control valves, and variable-frequency drives (VFDs).
• Prepare and maintain I/O lists, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), control sequences, alarm lists, communication mappings, and test procedures.
• Review electrical schematics, control-panel drawings, bills of materials, and cable schedules in coordination with the electrical design team.
• Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Validate equipment response to sensor faults, communication loss, pump failure, power restoration, and other operating conditions against approved control requirements.
• Maintain software backups, revision records, commissioning reports, and as-built documentation.

Essential Skills

• 4–6 years of practical experience in PLC programming, HMI development, controls engineering, and commissioning.
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one PLC/controller platform, preferably Schneider Electric or Siemens.
• Proficiency in Structured Text, with working knowledge of Ladder Logic and/or Function Block Diagram.
• Hands-on experience with PID control, pumps, VFDs, instrumentation, and automated equipment sequences.
• Good understanding of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet, and SNMP.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting control logic, interlocks, alarms, and equipment fault-handling sequences.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively during testing and commissioning activities.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control-panel drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Experience working with liquid-cooling systems, HVAC/chilled-water systems, data center infrastructure, or other industrial cooling equipment is a plus.
• Experience participating in FAT, SAT, equipment commissioning, and site troubleshooting is preferred.
• Relevant hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
