Role Overview
The
Controllership role is responsible for financial accounting, statutory compliance, audits, internal controls, and financial reporting. The role works closely with business, operations, and leadership teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and scalability of financial processes.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Closing:
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
- Ensure accounting in compliance with Ind AS
- Review journal entries, provisions, accruals, and reconciliations
- Maintain strong balance sheet hygiene including AR, AP, inventory, and provisions
- Statutory & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, and other statutory requirements
- Manage GST filings, reconciliations, audits, and notices
- Support income tax assessments and regulatory filings
- Audit & Governance:
- Lead statutory, tax, internal, and special audits
- Act as SPOC for auditors and consultants
- Strengthen internal financial controls and SOPs
- Identify control gaps and drive remediation
- Inventory & Cost Controls
- Oversee inventory accounting and valuation across warehouses
- Ensure accurate COGS, landed cost, and returns accounting
- Partner with supply chain and operations to improve inventory controls
- Financial Reporting & MIS:
- Prepare and review management MIS and variance analysis
- Support leadership with insights on margins, costs, and working capital
- Assist with board reporting, investor reporting, and due diligence
- Systems & Process Improvement:
- Drive automation and improvements in ERP and accounting systems
- Improve scalability and efficiency of finance processes
- Team & Stakeholder Management:
- Mentor and manage junior finance team members
- Coordinate with external consultants, banks, and internal stakeholders
- Act as a finance partner to business teams
