Role Overview

The AVP – Balance Sheet Substantiation is responsible for leading end-to-end BSS operations within the Hub, ensuring high-quality, timely reconciliations in compliance with the Balance Sheet Reconciliation Policy and overall controllership framework. The role drives governance, control excellence, standardization, and transformation across the BSS tower while partnering with Global Process Owners (GPOs) and key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Business-as-Usual (BAU) Leadership

  • Own end-to-end reconciliation and substantiation processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Ensure adherence to BSS Policy, SOX requirements, and internal control standards
  • Identify and proactively manage key risks, P&L exposures, and control gaps with timely remediation
  • Maintain a robust control environment, including process inventory, risk assessment, and control effectiveness monitoring
  • Drive consistency in control design and execution across the BSS tower
  • Oversee issue resolution, escalation, and reporting to senior management
  • Ensure all procedures and documentation remain current and audit-compliant

Governance, Risk & Controls

  • Strengthen risk culture and promote continuous improvement in the control environment
  • Lead SOX controls review, RCSA alignment, and internal audit readiness
  • Develop and implement preventive and detective controls to mitigate financial and operational risks

Transformation & Change Management

  • Partner with GPO, and Technology teams to drive process standardization, re-engineering, and automation
  • Lead and support strategic initiatives including system implementations (Oracle), restructures, and new entity onboarding
  • Drive UAT, post-go-live support, and seamless transition into BAU operations
  • Conduct business analysis, gap assessments, and feasibility studies to enhance the global control framework

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with global stakeholders (Controllers, IT, Audit, and Operations across NA, EMEA, APAC)
  • Lead, coach, and develop teams to deliver high performance and build capability
  • Ensure effective communication, governance forums, and stakeholder alignment across initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance; MBA or professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) preferred
  • 12–15 years of experience in Balance Sheet Substantiation, controllership, accounting operations, or risk assurance
  • Strong experience in shared services and offshore delivery models
  • Proven expertise in SOX, RCSA, and control framework design and implementation
  • Hands-on experience in ERP systems (Oracle) and accounting technology transformation
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and Subledger Accounting
