Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management:
- Prepare and review contracts, including agreements for construction, design, and consultancy services.
- Ensure that all contracts are in compliance with legal requirements, project specifications, and client expectations.
- Negotiate contract terms, conditions, and amendments with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure both parties fulfill their contractual obligations.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify, assess, and manage contract-related risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations, company policies, and project-specific contractual requirements.
- Review and manage all aspects of contractual documentation, including project plans, schedules, change orders, and claims.
- Keep track of contract deadlines, milestones, and obligations, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Variation and Claims Management:
- Manage variations and changes to the contract scope, including preparing and assessing variation orders.
- Review and process claims related to project delays, disputes, and cost adjustments.
- Support project teams in resolving disputes, claims, and contractual issues, providing recommendations on appropriate actions.
Tendering and Bid Support:
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and the evaluation of bids from contractors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure that contracts are awarded to the most suitable vendors.
- Ensure that the contractual terms and conditions align with the tender requirements and project goals.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all contract-related queries and issues from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with legal teams, project managers, procurement teams, and other departments to ensure seamless contract execution.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure positive and collaborative project delivery.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all contracts, amendments, communications, and negotiations.
- Prepare detailed reports on contract performance, including cost, schedule, and compliance status.
- Document key decisions, risks, claims, and resolutions for reference during and after project completion.
Dispute Resolution:
- Assist in managing contractual disputes, providing technical and legal support for dispute resolution processes.
- Collaborate with legal teams to draft and prepare documentation for arbitration, litigation, or settlement.
Site Visits and Project Support:
- Conduct site visits as necessary to assess contract implementation and address issues on the ground.
- Provide advice and support to project managers and site teams in addressing contractual concerns or challenges.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in contracts management, preferably in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of contract law, construction processes, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of contract management software and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
- Ability to analyze and manage risks, claims, and changes in scope.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
