Job Description
We're hiring: Content Writer
The Wise Idiot | Remote | 0–2 years experience
Before You Hit Publish
We're not looking for someone who can just put words together.
We're looking for someone who can take an idea, research it properly, and turn it into content people actually want to read.
Good writing isn't just about sounding clever. It's about being clear, convincing, and knowing what you want the reader to do next.
And yes, we're particular about grammar.
Who we are
The Wise Idiot is a content and marketing agency. We work with clients across industries, platforms, and mediums, creating content that helps brands communicate better and grow.
We're small, opinionated, and particular about the work. We care about the details, deadlines, and doing the work well.
The role
As a Content Writer / Writing Intern, you'll research, write, edit, and refine content across different formats and platforms.
You'll work with content marketing managers, designers, and other team members to create content that's not just well-written, but actually serves a purpose.
What you'll do
- Researching topics and turning your findings into clear, engaging content
- Writing blogs, articles, website content, social media content, and other marketing material
- Creating strong hooks, headlines, and structures that keep readers engaged
- Using internal and external links appropriately
- Writing SEO-friendly content using keywords naturally
- Editing and proofreading for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and readability
- Adapting your writing to different brands and audiences
- Fact-checking and working with content briefs
- Learning and working with CMS platforms such as WordPress and Wix
- Working with the team to meet deadlines
What we're looking for
- 0–2 years of experience in content writing, copywriting, journalism, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal English
- A genuine interest in writing and storytelling
- Strong grammar and attention to detail
- The ability to research well and make complex topics easy to understand
- Creativity, curiosity, and willingness to learn
- The ability to take feedback and improve
- Good time management and ownership
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in finance, fintech, financial services, or related content is a strong plus
And most importantly, the willingness to go beyond just content writing.
If you're already a Shakespearean, excellent.
If you're the next Brontë or Austen, we'd like to hear from you too.
But if you simply love figuring out how words can make people stop, read, think, and act, you might fit right in.
