Department: Content & Programming

Reporting To: Head of Content / Platform Head

Location: Karnal Haryana

CTC: Upto 8 lpa

Channel Focus: Sikh Devotional, Education & Knowledge (Digital / OTT / YouTube / TV)

Role Overview

The Content Producer Sikh Devotional & Knowledge Channel will be responsible for conceptualizing, producing, packaging, and managing high-quality Sikh religious, historical, and educational content.

This role demands deep understanding of Sikh theology and history, combined with strong modern content production and packaging skills for digital and broadcast platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sikh Knowledge & Editorial Expertise
  • Demonstrate strong command over:
  • Gurmukhi script & pronunciation
  • Gurbani understanding and interpretation
  • Sikh history (Itihas), Gurus lives, and Panthic traditions
  • Sikh calendar (Nanaksahi / Gurpurab cycles / historical dates)
  • Ensure theological accuracy, maryada compliance, and respectful presentation of all content.
  • Vet scripts, shows, quizzes, and discussions for religious correctness.

2. Content Creation & Programming
  • Conceptualize and produce content formats such as:
  • Gurbani explanations & shabads
  • Sikh history storytelling series
  • Educational explainers on Sikh philosophy
  • Sikh calendar-based content planning
  • Short-form devotional reels & long-form discourses
  • Develop original Sikh-based quizzes, educational games, and interactive formats.
  • Create concepts for Sikh-focused reality shows, devotional competitions, or Gurbani-based formats.

3. Network & Talent Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
  • Sikh Ragi Jathas
  • Kathavachaks
  • Religious scholars & historians
  • Coordinate artist availability, recording schedules, and content pipelines.
  • Ensure respectful onboarding and briefing of religious contributors.

4. Live Kirtan Darbar & Event Production
  • Plan and execute Live Kirtan Darbar recordings from:
  • Gurdwaras
  • Religious events
  • Special Gurpurab programs
  • Coordinate with:
  • Audio/video teams
  • Gurdwara management
  • Live-streaming & recording crews
  • Ensure audio sanctity, visual discipline, and maryada compliance during recordings.

5. Content Packaging & Production Execution
  • Translate raw religious content into engaging, structured formats.
  • Prepare clear briefs for:
  • Video editors (flow, pace, cuts, devotional tone)
  • Designers (posters, thumbnails, religious symbolism, typography)
  • Oversee:
  • Supers / subtitles accuracy (especially Gurmukhi & translations)
  • Final packaging of episodes, reels, and promos
  • Maintain consistency in visual identity and devotional tone.

6. Editorial Supervision & Quality Control
  • Brief and supervise editors to ensure:
  • Respectful transitions
  • Clean audio mix for Gurbani
  • Correct captions and translations
  • Review and approve final outputs before publishing.
  • Ensure content aligns with platform standards and Sikh values.

7. Sikh-Based Journalism & News Network
  • Conceptualize and manage Sikh-focused news content, including:
  • Gurudwara activities
  • Sikh community events worldwide
  • Religious, cultural, and Panthic developments
  • Onboard and manage journalists / contributors across:
  • India
  • UK, Canada, USA, Europe, Australia
  • Ensure editorial neutrality, factual accuracy, and dignity in reporting.

8. Content Calendar & Festival Planning
  • Create and manage an annual Sikh content calendar based on:
  • Gurpurabs
  • Shaheedi Diwas
  • Sikh historical events
  • Plan special programming blocks and campaigns accordingly.

Key Skills & Competencies
  • Deep knowledge of Sikh religion, Gurbani, and history
  • Strong editorial judgment and religious sensitivity
  • Content production and packaging expertise
  • Ability to brief and manage creative teams
  • Strong network within Sikh religious and cultural circles
  • Excellent communication in Punjabi (spoken & written); Gurmukhi reading mandatory

Educational Qualification
  • Degree / Diploma in:
  • Journalism
  • Mass Communication
  • Religious Studies
  • Sikh Studies (preferred)

Experience
  • 612 years in devotional, religious, or cultural content production
  • Prior experience with:
  • Sikh devotional channels
  • Religious programming
  • Live event recordings

KPIs / Performance Metrics
  • Accuracy and sanctity of religious content
  • Audience engagement and retention
  • Successful execution of live recordings
  • Growth of Sikh content library
  • Network strength of Ragis, Kathavachaks, and journalists

Role Impact

This role is the custodian of Sikh spiritual content, responsible for preserving authenticity, dignity, and depth, while presenting Sikh knowledge in a modern, accessible, and engaging format for global audiences.
