Job Summary
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Solution / Domain Architec1 will provide solution and telecom-domain architecture leadership for the client. The role will translate application, business, interface, data, NFR, migration and dependency findings into treatment recommendations, target designs and delivery-ready architecture inputs. It will support architecture alignment to TRAM and cloud-native direction, preservation of operational integrity and business parity, and coordination across application, migration, cloud, testing and transition stakeholders.

Architecture Governance
Solution & Domain Architecture
- Develop and maintain solution-architecture inputs for assigned App Group 3 applications and treatment pathways.
- Translate application functions, business rules, interfaces, data, batch behaviour and NFRs into target-design and migration considerations.
- Provide telecom-domain guidance for applications supporting Copper, fixed-line, billing, credit-management and reporting functions.
TRAM & Target-State Alignment
- Align solution decisions to Client Reference Architecture Method and the sourced AWS-aligned modernisation direction.
- Promote open standards, capability-based architecture, API-first design and decoupled functional boundaries where applicable to approved treatments.
- Document architecture assumptions, constraints, dependencies and decisions for review through the relevant governance and design-authority forums.
Legacy Modernisation & Treatment Planning
- Support assessment of refactor, migration, decommissioning-support and treatment-to-be-confirmed pathways.
- Help preserve business rules, downstream interfaces, output formats, functional parity and required NFRs through modernisation.
- Collaborate with mainframe, Java/AWS, data, integration, testing and operations specialists on implementable designs.
Data, Interface & Migration Architecture
- Define or review data, interface, batch and integration impacts for migration and cutover planning.
- Support dependency mapping, reconciliation, golden-dataset replay, parallel/dual-run and rollback considerations where required by application treatment.
- Identify architecture risks arising from undocumented dependencies, source-code availability, third-party tooling or strategic-capability readiness.
Architecture Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Present architecture recommendations, decision options, risks and trade-offs to programme, client and delivery stakeholders.
- Work with programme governance, architects, PMO, risk, OCM, delivery and incumbent teams to maintain alignment across solution decisions.
- Provide clear evidence-based inputs to RAID, change requests, readiness reviews and architecture sign-offs.
Transition, Cutover & Stabilisation Support
- Support knowledge acquisition and transition-in by validating application architecture, dependencies, operational processes and documentation.
- Provide architecture support for test readiness, migration, cutover, hyper-care and handover into steady-state support.
- Ensure solution decisions account for business continuity, security posture and relevant compliance constraints.
Required Skills & Experience
Architecture & Domain
- Experience in solution or domain architecture for complex enterprise or telecommunications transformation.
- Ability to model business capability, application, integration, data and technology implications of legacy modernisation.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills across business, architecture, engineering and governance stakeholders.
Mainframe & Cloud Modernisation
- Working understanding of COBOL/DB2-centred estates and associated IMS, VSAM, NATURAL, SAS, batch and interface complexity.
- Experience with mainframe-to-cloud or legacy-modernisation patterns, including Java/Spring and AWS-aligned architecture where relevant.
- Ability to assess functional parity, NFR, migration, integration, cutover and operational-continuity implications.
Governance & Delivery
- Experience producing solution blueprints, architecture decisions, dependency maps, treatment inputs, migration designs and risk/assumption records.
- Ability to work through incomplete documentation without treating unvalidated assumptions as facts.
- Experience collaborating in multi-vendor, regulated and distributed delivery environments.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Telecommunications architecture experience across order, service, billing, assurance, customer or fixed-line capabilities.
- Enterprise/solution architecture or cloud certification is desirable
- Experience in data migration, integration architecture, application decomposition, cutover or legacy decommissioning support.
- Experience with multi-vendor architecture governance and executive/client design reviews.
Personal Attributes & Soft Skills
- Structured problem solver who converts ambiguous legacy-estate information into actionable architecture decisions.
- Pragmatic architect who balances target-state alignment with safe delivery and continuity.
- Evidence-led communicator who clearly separates confirmed facts, assumptions and open decisions.
- Collaborative across Telstra, Cognizant, incumbents, cloud/platform, testing and operations teams.
- Strong ownership of architecture actions, dependencies, risks and sign-offs.
