Job Description

Location: Chembur, Vashi, and Seawoods, Mumbai / Navi Mumbai

Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Summary

We are expanding our specialized eye care services and are seeking an experienced, fellowship-trained Vitreoretinal Surgeon to join our team across our Mumbai centres. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing complex medical and surgical retina cases, demonstrate leadership capabilities to further develop our retina department, and be comfortable handling high surgical volumes within a modern infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Surgical Practice:

  • Perform advanced medical and surgical vitreoretinal procedures with high precision and safety standards.
  • Manage outpatient departments (OPD), assess patient conditions, and formulate comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Handle high surgical and patient volumes efficiently.

Departmental Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and collaborate with junior clinical staff, optometrists, and support teams.
  • Drive the growth and further development of the vitreoretinal services and surgical protocols across assigned centres.

Patient Care & Relations

  • Maintain exceptional standards of patient care, ethical medical practices, and post-operative follow-up.
  • Collaborate with the existing referral network to build and sustain patient trust.

Qualifications

  • Master of Surgery (MS) or Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Ophthalmology.
  • Fellowship in Vitreoretina from a reputed and recognized institute (Preference will be given to candidates from institutions such as Aravind Eye Hospital, Sankara Nethralaya, or L V Prasad Eye Institute).

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of independent post-fellowship surgical experience in vitreoretinal procedures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Comprehensive expertise in handling micro-incision vitrectomy surgery (MIVS), retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, and other complex retinal pathologies.
  • Strong administrative and leadership skills with the ability to manage departmental workflows.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient counseling and team management.
