Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Services. Ensure safe collection, testing, processing, storage, and issue of blood and blood components. Perform and supervise donor screening, blood grouping, cross-matching, and compatibility testing. Ensure compliance with the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, NBTC, and State Blood Transfusion Council guidelines. Monitor quality control, cold chain maintenance, and equipment validation. Handle transfusion reactions and provide clinical consultation to treating physicians. Maintain statutory records, registers, and reporting to regulatory authorities. Conduct and supervise blood donation camps and donor counseling. Train and supervise technical and nursing staff in transfusion practices. Participate in hospital transfusion committee activities and audits. Implement hemovigilance and patient blood management (PBM) programs. Required Qualifications MD (Transfusion Medicine) / MD (Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion) (As per NMC & NBTC norms) Experience 0–3 years of post-MD experience (freshers can be considered as per statutory norms). Experience in licensed blood banks is preferred. Required Skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge of immunohematology and transfusion protocols. Hands-on experience with blood component preparation and apheresis (desirable). Familiarity with e-RaktKosh / Hemovigilance Program of India (HvPI). Good documentation and regulatory compliance skills. Ability to handle emergencies and transfusion-related adverse events. Key Competencies High attention to detail and patient safety. Leadership and team management skills. Good communication and coordination with clinical departments. Ethical practice and adherence to SOPs.
