Global Technology Engineering is one of the largest shared service centers for IT infrastructures ensuring the 24/7 quality and continuity of our infrastructures and their resilience to incidents, aligned with RESG/GTS norms & standards in the areas of: End User Support, Database & Systems Administration, Data Centre Services and Command Centre.
Department / Project Overview GTS/PAS/DRE Team provides production database support to all the MKT/GDI & Retail Banking customers across SG group. Project includes incidents, requests & changes management on all the Retail applications hosted on multiple technologies including Oracle, MSSQL, Informix, DB2, Teradata & Open Source RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MongoDB & MYSQL). The project is responsible for the complete life cycle management of databases including Migrations, Upgrades etc. Additionally the project supports all the maintenance operations, performance analysis & troubleshooting, patching & DRP exercises.
Role / Job Summary MS-SQL DBA Consultant Technical Lead with good Expert knowledge on database technologies, include Database design, performance tuning, HA/DR Solutions, Security, adaptability to the eco-systems technology,
Years of Experience 12 years and above
Qualification / Certification Engineering graduate / MCA / Computer Science Graduate or PG. Any relevant RDBMS certification is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities & Skill Requirements
- Lead design and implementation of complex MSSQL database architectures ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance to meet RTO & RPO metrics with End-to-End Responsibility
- Optimize database schemas, indexes, partitions, and data models aligned with evolving business requirements
- Perform deep analysis and tuning of SQL queries, stored procedures, and server configurations.
- Proactively monitor and resolve performance bottlenecks using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Implement robust database security policies including patching, encryption, auditing, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX) through secure data handling and documentation.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine database administration tasks such as backups, restores, health checks, and monitoring etc.,
- Use scripting to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention, ensuring scripts are well-documented and maintainable.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and operational workflows.
- Experience on manage and optimize MSSQL instances / databases on either public cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon RDS for SQL Server
- Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to design hybrid or fully cloud-based database solutions aligned with organizational cloud strategy.
- Implement cloud-native features for scalability, security, and disaster recovery, including automated backups, geo-replication, and elastic pools
- Monitor cloud resource usage and optimize cost-efficiency while ensuring compliance with cloud governance policies.
- Commit to ongoing professional development to stay current with MSSQL advancements, automation tools, cloud technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Key contributor to ITIL-aligned service management processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management within the database domain.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve database services, reduce incidents, and enhance availability aligned with ITIL CSI principles.
- Maintain clear, timely communication with business and technical stakeholders regarding database health, incidents, and planned changes.
- 24/7 Availability to respond to crises incidents and emergencies outside regular hours with urgency and professionalism.
- Foster a culture of collaboration across IT teams, driving collective ownership of database stability and performance.
- Uphold integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive data and organizational information
Good To Have Skills / Experience
- Experience of handling very large environment, min 500+ SQL Instances and TB's of database size
