Job Description
Consultant Project Planning role supports project teams across the Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) portfolio by developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules, ensuring governance adherence, and enabling efficient delivery.
The role contributes significantly to planning, reporting, risk identification, and PMO governance, supporting UK and international project managers with high quality planning insights and project performance visibility.
Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain baseline schedules in Primavera P6 / MS Project in alignment with project scope and PMO standards.
- Update schedules periodically, track progress, and provide variance analysis.
- Identify critical paths, dependencies, slippages, and risks affecting schedules.
- Support schedule reviews, planning workshops, and inputs for bids/tenders. (Aligned with mid-level planner duties) [PMO Job Descriptions | Word]
PMO Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to T&I PMO planning frameworks, templates, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Prepare planning deliverables in accordance with WSP PMO processes, including risk registers, change logs, progress reports, and planning KPIs.
Project Controls Interface
- Coordinate with project controls teams on earned value, progress measurement, costschedule integration, and reporting.
- Support development of progress dashboards, reporting packs, and performance summaries as required by the PMO.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Produce weekly/monthly schedule updates for internal and client reporting.
- Prepare look-aheads, milestones tracking, and variance reports with meaningful insights for decision-making.
- Ensure all planning inputs are accurately maintained in enterprise tools (Horizon, SharePoint, etc.).
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, design leads, engineering teams, and PMO specialists to gather updates and resolve planning issues.

Continuous Improvement
- Participate in PMO initiatives related to process improvement, automation, and reporting standardization.
- Share planning best practices and support capability development within the PMO.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
- Understanding of project planning principles (WBS development, CPM, resource loading, dependencies).
- Working knowledge of project controls concepts (progress measurement, EVM, risk, costschedule alignment).
- Strong MS Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI is desirable.
Professional & Behavioural Skills
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and data consistency.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fastpaced PMO environment.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent project management qualification.
- Preferable to have PMI (CAPM, PMP) or APM (PFQ, PMQ) Qualifications.
- Relevant domain certifications.
- Experience from the range of 4-8 years.
