Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and highly specialized
Ocular Inflammation and Uveitis Specialist to manage complex infectious, non-infectious, and autoimmune diseases affecting the eye. The ideal candidate will combine expert clinical diagnostic skills in ocular immunology with robust surgical competency to address secondary complications of uveitis, such as uveitic cataracts or glaucoma.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Clinical Diagnosis & Management
- Diagnose and manage a comprehensive spectrum of anterior, intermediate, posterior, and pan-uveitis, as well as scleritis, episcleritis, and ocular surface inflammatory conditions.
- Order, interpret, and synthesize complex systemic and ocular diagnostic investigations (including OCT, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), ICG angiography, and laboratory/radiological workups for systemic autoimmune or infectious diseases).
- Formulate and monitor customized immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory therapy (IMT) regimens, biologicals, and systemic corticosteroid treatments in collaboration with rheumatologists and internal medicine specialists.
- Surgical & Interventional Procedures
- Perform specialized ophthalmic surgeries, particularly Uveitic Cataract Extractions with precise pre- and post-operative inflammation control.
- Manage secondary surgical complications of chronic inflammation, including diagnostic vitrectomies, anterior segment reconstruction, and surgical management of uveitic glaucoma.
- Administer localized interventional therapies, including periocular (Sub-Tenon's) injections, intravitreal corticosteroid implants (e.g., Ozurdex), and intravitreal anti-VEGF or antibiotic injections.
- Collaborative & Long-term Patient Care
- Lead multidisciplinary care pathways with rheumatologists, pulmonologists, and infectious disease specialists for systemic conditions (e.g., Sarcoidosis, HLA-B27 associated diseases, TB, Behcet's, and Lupus).
- Provide high-level, empathetic counseling to patients dealing with chronic, vision-threatening, and long-term autoimmune conditions.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications

MS / MD / DNB) in Ophthalmology.
Specialization A formal, dedicated
Fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation / Ocular Immunology from a premier eye institute.
Experience 1 to 5+ years of post-fellowship experience managing advanced ocular inflammatory diseases and performing complex segment surgeries.
Clinical Expertise Strong proficiency in systemic immunosuppression protocols, intravitreal implants, and managing the surgical challenges of highly inflamed eyes.
Key Attributes Meticulous attention to medical detail, strong analytical skills for complex systemic workups, and excellent patient communication.
