Job Description

The Consultant General Physician will provide evidence-based, comprehensive medical care for adult patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The role focuses on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a wide range of medical conditions and chronic diseases, while collaborating with other specialties as required for optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments, diagnose medical conditions, and develop treatment plans.
  • Manage both acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, thyroid disorders, infectious diseases, etc.
  • Provide inpatient care, including regular rounds, documentation, and treatment modifications as needed.
  • Perform and supervise diagnostic procedures and interpret investigation results (e.g., ECG, X-ray, basic lab work).
  • Handle medical emergencies and initiate stabilization protocols.
  • Counsel patients on preventive healthcare, diet, and lifestyle modification.
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists when advanced care is needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality initiatives.
  • If required, engage in hospital outreach programs, health camps, and patient education sessions.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Clinical Expertise:

  • Solid understanding of general medicine, pathophysiology, and clinical decision-making.
  • Competency in managing chronic illnesses and routine OPD consultations.
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic tests and manage emergency cases independently.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Empathetic approach to patient care and ability to counsel patients effectively.
  • Team-oriented with collaborative skills for working across departments.

Technical & Digital Skills:

  • Familiarity with EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems and clinical documentation.
  • Basic proficiency in using diagnostic tools and digital health platforms.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning, CME, and research activities (if applicable).
