Project Role: SAP BASIS Consultant

Project Role Description: The SAP BASIS Consultant will play a critical role in our SAP ECC to S/4 HANA migration conversion factory. The ideal candidate will manage the technical infrastructure, system administration, and BASIS aspects of the migration process, ensuring a smooth transition from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA. The consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all SAP systems are appropriately configured, optimized, and performing at their best during the migration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SAP System Administration: Manage the day-to-day administration and configuration of SAP environments (ECC, S/4 HANA, and related systems), ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Migration Support: Provide expert guidance in the migration process from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA. Assist with conversion, system upgrades, data migration, and ensuring the new S/4 HANA system is fully optimized and functional.
  • System Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the SAP systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and responsiveness across all environments. Implement necessary adjustments to enhance efficiency and performance during the migration process.
  • Technical Infrastructure Management: Oversee the technical infrastructure, including hardware and software configurations, database management, and networking for SAP systems, to ensure smooth functioning during and after migration.
  • Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including functional consultants, developers, and project managers, to ensure that all aspects of the migration are aligned with business requirements.
  • System Upgrades & Patches: Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to SAP systems, ensuring that all technical components are up-to-date and secure during the migration process.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues across SAP environments. Provide timely resolutions to minimize system downtime and disruption.
  • Testing & Validation: Support the testing phase of the SAP migration, ensuring all technical components are fully functional. Assist in validation and troubleshooting during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Documentation & Reporting: Document system configurations, migration steps, and troubleshooting efforts. Provide regular updates and reports to management regarding the migration progress.
  • Capacity Planning & Backup: Ensure proper capacity planning for the new S/4 HANA environment and establish robust backup and disaster recovery procedures for all SAP environments.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest SAP technologies and advancements related to BASIS, S/4 HANA, and system administration. Apply new best practices and methodologies for improved system efficiency.

Skills Required:

  • SAP BASIS Expertise: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SAP BASIS, including system administration, configuration, and optimization for SAP environments (ECC and S/4 HANA).
  • SAP Migration Knowledge: Strong experience in SAP migrations, particularly from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA. Familiarity with tools and methodologies for conversion and data migration.
  • Technical Infrastructure Management: Experience in managing the underlying technical infrastructure for SAP environments, including hardware, networking, databases, and server management.
  • SAP HANA: Understanding of SAP HANA architecture and its integration with the SAP ecosystem. Experience in performance tuning and optimization for SAP HANA systems.
  • Security & User Management: Proficiency in managing user roles, authorizations, and security protocols in SAP systems, ensuring secure access and data integrity.
  • System Performance & Monitoring: Strong analytical skills for monitoring SAP system performance, troubleshooting issues, and applying necessary optimizations.
  • Database Management: Knowledge of SAP HANA and other relevant databases, including backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a time-sensitive migration environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • SAP BASIS certification is a plus, but not mandatory.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SAP BASIS administration and management, with at least 2 years working on SAP ECC to S/4 HANA migration projects.
  • Experience in configuring and managing SAP HANA environments.
  • Strong understanding of SAP system architecture, integration, and performance optimization.
  • Prior experience with large-scale SAP migrations or system upgrades is highly preferred.
