Project Role: Consultant - SAP Basis
Project Role Description: As an SAP Basis Consultant, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning of SAP systems, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP NetWeaver, and other SAP components. Your role will be essential in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of SAP systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, optimize system performance, and support system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- SAP System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems (including SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP NetWeaver, and other SAP modules) to ensure their optimal performance, reliability, and availability.
- System Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Monitor SAP systems continuously, resolve system alerts, and perform system health checks to identify and address performance bottlenecks. Implement performance optimization measures for SAP landscapes.
- SAP Upgrades & Migrations: Plan, execute, and manage SAP upgrades, patching, and migration activities, including transitioning from older versions (SAP ECC to S/4HANA) and integrating third-party systems.
- SAP System Security & User Management: Implement and manage SAP security policies, user roles, authorizations, and access control. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security protocols and internal controls.
- Database & Backup Management: Oversee SAP database management, including backup and recovery processes, database tuning, and ensuring high availability. Manage database migrations and disaster recovery planning.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Provide support for troubleshooting SAP system issues, resolve performance-related problems, and ensure that issues are identified and remediated promptly.
- SAP Landscape Management: Manage and maintain SAP landscapes, including the transport management system (TMS), managing system copies, and ensuring optimal system health and availability.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with functional, technical, and infrastructure teams to ensure SAP systems are integrated seamlessly with business processes and technologies.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain detailed documentation of SAP configurations, system architectures, processes, and incident resolution steps. Contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure SAP systems adhere to industry standards, best practices, and corporate guidelines for system security, performance, and compliance.
Skills Required:
- SAP Basis Expertise: Strong hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration, including system installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
- SAP S/4HANA & ECC: Experience in managing SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP NetWeaver, and other SAP systems. Knowledge of the migration process from ECC to S/4HANA is an advantage.
- System Performance & Optimization: Proficient in diagnosing and resolving SAP system performance issues, including memory, CPU, and disk utilization.
- Database Management: Experience in managing SAP databases (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.), including backup and recovery, tuning, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Security & User Administration: Experience in SAP user management, security roles, authorizations, and compliance auditing.
- Operating Systems & Infrastructure: Knowledge of underlying infrastructure, including operating systems (Linux, Windows) and virtualization technologies, to optimize SAP system performance.
- SAP Transport Management: Familiar with the SAP Transport Management System (TMS), system copies, and managing change management processes.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with business and technical teams, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- SAP Basis certification is a plus but not mandatory.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in SAP Basis administration, with hands-on experience in managing SAP landscapes.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP NetWeaver, and other SAP modules.
- Experience in managing SAP upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting system performance issues.
- Previous experience working in large-scale environments and with high-availability SAP systems is preferred.
