Key Responsibilities:
Project Supervision & Execution:
- Manage all site construction activities related to mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, etc.).
- Oversee mechanical subcontractors and ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor progress against the construction plan.
Contractor Coordination & Monitoring:
- Liaise with EPC/turnkey contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery of mechanical works.
- Review work programs, method statements, and resource deployment submitted by contractors.
- Ensure proper coordination between mechanical works and civil, electrical, and structural activities on site.
Technical Review & Quality Control:
- Review mechanical design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
- Ensure all mechanical installations comply with relevant codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IS codes) and project standards.
- Identify and resolve technical or design discrepancies with consultants and designers.
HSE and Compliance:
- Enforce safety standards and promote safe construction practices on site.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to mechanical works.
- Participate in safety audits and toolbox talks with contractors.
Progress Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for mechanical activities.
- Track material consumption, contractor performance, and milestone achievement.
- Maintain complete documentation for mechanical inspections, approvals, and punch lists.
Change Management & Claims Support:
- Evaluate change requests, site instructions, and deviations from design.
- Assist in assessing time and cost impacts of changes related to mechanical works.
- Support contract administration by providing documentation for claims and variations.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover:
- Oversee testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Ensure all systems meet performance criteria and are handed over in working condition with proper documentation.
- Coordinate snagging and final acceptance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical construction management, including at least 3 years in a consultant or client-representative role.
- Industry Background: Infrastructure, buildings, power plants, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of mechanical systems in construction (HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, piping).
- Knowledge of project execution and planning tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IS, BS, etc.).
- Strong leadership, team coordination, and contractor management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and resolving field issues.
- Good documentation and reporting abilities.
