About the Role

Karter Developments, a UK-based construction and property consultancy, is establishing a new support role within its Bangalore office. We are seeking a Building Consultant Assistant to provide high-quality back-office and technical support to our UK senior team.

This is not a traditional administrative role. The position requires a foundation in construction, surveying, or the built environment, combined with strong organisational and communication skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the UK head office, supporting live projects and helping streamline operations, allowing senior consultants to focus on delivery and client-facing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Technical Support

  • Provide day-to-day support to UK-based Building Consultants on active construction and refurbishment projects
  • Assist with preparation, review, and coordination of:Project documentation, Drawings and schedules, Specifications and reports.
  • Interpret and work with construction terminology, drawings, and basic technical information
  • Support cost tracking, variations, and procurement documentation where required

Office & Operations Coordination

  • Manage the smooth running of the Bangalore office
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, and schedules between the UK and India teams
  • Act as a key point of contact between the UK head office, consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain organised digital filing systems and project records

Procurement & Supplier Coordination

  • Assist with procurement processes including:
  • Obtaining quotes
  • Comparing supplier proposals
  • Tracking orders and delivery timelines
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and consultants as directed by the UK team

Systems & Software Management

  • Use and maintain project management and construction software such as: Arthur App, BuilderTREND, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ensure data accuracy and timely updates across systems
  • Support continuous improvement of internal processes and workflows

Communication & Reporting

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with UK stakeholders in written and spoken English
  • Prepare summaries, updates, and basic reports for senior staff
  • Escalate issues proactively and suggest practical solutions

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Educational background in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
  • Good understanding of construction terminology and processes
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Confident using digital tools and project management systems
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a remote UK team
  • Must be convenient working for 6 days a week from 12pm - 9pm.

Desirable Experience

  • Graduate Surveyor or early-career construction professional
  • Experience with UK construction projects or standards
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
  • Familiarity with Arthur App, BuilderTREND, or similar construction/project management platforms
  • Prior experience supporting consultants, engineers, or project managers
