Job Description

Apache Camel Configurator (6–8 Years)

Role Purpose

The Apache Camel Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise integration solutions that connect IAN products with external applications, APIs, databases, and third-party platforms.

The role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance integration services using Java, Spring Boot, Apache Camel, and modern integration patterns. Working closely with Business Analysts, Implementation Architects, Product Teams, QA Teams, and other implementation specialists, the Apache Camel Developer ensures seamless system interoperability and reliable data exchange across customer environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise integration solutions using Apache Camel, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Build and manage scalable microservices and backend services to support customer implementations and platform integrations.
  • Design and implement integrations with external applications, APIs, databases, messaging systems, and third-party platforms.
  • Configure and maintain message routing, transformation, validation, enrichment, and orchestration processes using Apache Camel.
  • Develop reusable connectors, integration templates, accelerators, and implementation assets.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, database schemas, stored procedures, and data integration processes.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and Implementation Architects to understand integration requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support implementation activities including development, testing, deployment, production cutovers, and go-live support.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and optimize solution performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ensure application security, availability, maintainability, and adherence to development best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture reviews.
  • Contribute to integration standards, development guidelines, reusable frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document technical designs, integration configurations, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 6–8 years of hands-on experience in software development, enterprise integration, middleware, or API-driven solutions.
  • Good experience in the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain
  • Strong proficiency in Java (Java 21 or later preferred).
  • Extensive experience with Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache Camel, including routes, processors, components, transformations, error handling, and integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration architecture and API-led integration approaches.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, SOAP, and integration design patterns.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience working on relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with JPA, Hibernate, or equivalent ORM frameworks.
  • Knowledge of messaging technologies and integration protocols such as Kafka, JMS, HTTP, SOAP, SFTP, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Git, source control management, CI/CD pipelines, and release management processes.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and automated testing practices.
  • Understanding of cloud-native application development, deployment architectures, and integration best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and clients across North America or Europe
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills

Desired Skills

  • Exposure to workflow automation and orchestration platforms such as Camunda, Flowable, n8n, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD automation, and deployment pipelines.
  • Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
