Job Description

About Us:

Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability. Operating India's first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing.

As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We don't just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you'll be fuelling the future of space exploration.

About the Role:

Azista Space is looking for a highly detail-oriented Configuration Controller to support mission-critical satellite development programs from our Bengaluru office. In this role, you will drive end-to-end Configuration Management (CM) activities across hardware, software/firmware, and technical documentation within an ECSS-compliant aerospace environment.

You will work closely with Systems Engineering, AIT, Quality Assurance, and global co-engineering partners to ensure configuration integrity, baseline control, and traceability across the complete product lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to India's rapidly growing private space ecosystem while working on cutting-edge satellite platforms and orbital technologies.

If you thrive in structured engineering environments, enjoy managing complex technical data, and want to play a critical role in the future of space systems manufacturing, this role is for you.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Configuration Identification & Baseline Management

  • Maintain and manage the Configuration Item (CI) Register across hardware, software/firmware, and technical documentation.
  • Support establishment and control of functional, allocated, and product baselines throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Monitor configuration status, identify deviations, and provide regular CM status reporting to programme leadership.
  • Ensure full traceability of configuration data across engineering and manufacturing activities.

Change Control & Governance

  • Process and track Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Deviation (RFDs), and Waiver Requests through the Change Control Board (CCB) process.
  • Coordinate cross-functional impact assessments with Systems Engineering, QA, AIT, and subsystem teams.
  • Maintain accurate change records and ensure timely implementation of approved changes.
  • Drive compliance with aerospace configuration management standards and internal governance processes.

Documentation & Drawing Control

  • Manage the Document Master List (DML) and engineering drawing registers with strict revision control.
  • Control release, distribution, archival, and lifecycle tracking of technical documents including:
  • Specifications
  • Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Test Procedures
  • Review Reports
  • Engineering Drawings
  • Coordinate document deliverables with external vendors, suppliers, and co-engineering partners.

Interface & Configuration Audits

  • Maintain and update Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for subsystem and external interface management.
  • Support Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) at major programme milestones.
  • Prepare audit evidence packs, action trackers, and closure documentation for compliance reviews.
  • Support milestone reviews including PDR, CDR, QR, and AR activities.

PLM & Data Management

  • Operate and maintain engineering records within PLM systems such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or equivalent.
  • Ensure data consistency across product structures, BOM hierarchies, and released configurations.
  • Support engineering teams in maintaining accurate product lifecycle data and revision histories.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in Configuration Management, Technical Documentation Control, or Engineering Data Management.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, satellite systems, defence, avionics, or high-reliability engineering environments preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Configuration Management (CM) principles and lifecycle processes.
  • Working knowledge of ECSS-M-ST-40C, MIL-STD-973, or equivalent aerospace/defence CM standards.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM tools such as:
  • Windchill
  • Teamcenter
  • Dassault ENOVIA
  • Equivalent enterprise CM systems
  • Familiarity with:
  • Configuration baselines
  • Engineering change management
  • ICD management
  • BOM structures
  • Revision control processes
  • Exposure to FCA/PCA audits, engineering reviews, and release management workflows.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and technical reporting tools.
  • Understanding of version control concepts (Git or equivalent) is an added advantage.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong documentation discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple parallel workstreams under programme timelines.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audit trails, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across engineering, QA, manufacturing, and external partner teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a satellite development programme or space systems engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with ECSS documentation hierarchy including TN, RS, SS, and PA documentation.
  • Understanding of AIT workflows, spacecraft integration processes, and mission review cycles.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated or mission-critical engineering programmes.
