Computer Science Teaching Assistant

Position Summary

The Teaching Assistant assists the lead course instructor in delivering high-quality computer science education. Responsibilities include supporting undergraduate or graduate students during lab sessions, grading programming assignments and exams, holding weekly office hours, and helping students debug code or understand complex computational theory.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction & Labs: Assist during scheduled lab and discussion sessions, present supplementary code walkthroughs, and supervise hands-on programming tasks.
• Office Hours & Mentoring: Hold regular office hours (in-person or virtual) to answer student questions, review homework doubts, and guide problem-solving approaches without directly giving away solutions.
• Grading & Assessment: Grade programming projects, quizzes, and exams accurately and return feedback in a timely manner.
• Course Maintenance: Help manage online learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Moodle, or Piazza), moderate discussion forums, and prepare answer keys or test cases for assignments.
• Collaboration: Meet weekly with the lead instructor or course coordinator to align on grading rubrics, lecture pacing, and upcoming course material.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Freshers who are recently graduated from an M.Tech. (2026 or 2025) program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (exceptional senior undergraduate students may also be considered).
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in core programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, or C or MERN Stack or Gen AI) and familiarity with development tools (e.g., Git, Linux/Unix environments, and IDEs).
• Academic Knowledge: Solid understanding of foundational CS concepts, such as Data Structures & Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, Operating Systems, or Database Management.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal communication and patience to explain abstract or complex technical concepts to students with varying skill levels.
