A Computer Reservation System (CRS) consultant helps travel businesses use software to manage real-time bookings, inventory, and customer data across channels like airlines, hotels, and cars, requiring skills in system configuration, distribution management (GDS/OTAs), data analysis, and client training, with duties focusing on optimizing sales, efficiency, and customer experience through the system.

Core Skills

  • System Expertise:Deep knowledge of CRS/GDS platforms (e.g., Sabre, Amadeus, Travelport), APIs, and integrations.
  • Distribution Management:Managing online travel agencies (OTAs), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and direct booking channels.
  • Data & Analytics:Interpreting booking data for pricing, forecasting, and marketing.
  • Client Training:Teaching staff to use the system efficiently.
  • Technical Acumen:Understanding web services, XML, and system interfaces.

Key Duties

  • System Implementation:Setting up and configuring the CRS for new clients.
  • Inventory Management:Centralizing and automating rate and availability updates across all channels.
  • Channel Optimization:Connecting CRS to various sales platforms (websites, OTAs, GDS).
  • Reporting & Strategy:Providing insights to improve revenue and operations.
