Job Description: CNC Programmer

Job Summary
Khanna Polyrib is looking for an experienced, skilled, and responsible CNC Programmer to join its production team. The candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs for precision machining work, ensuring smooth production, minimum rejection, reduced downtime, and high-quality output.
The role requires strong knowledge of CNC programming, machine setup understanding, drawing interpretation, tooling selection, and process optimization. The candidate should be capable of supporting production requirements for engineering plastic and polymer components such as UHMWPE, HDPE, PP, Nylon, Delrin, and other industrial plastic parts.
Key Responsibilities1. CNC Programming
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs based on technical drawings, samples, and production requirements.
- Prepare programs for turning, routing, milling, drilling, profiling, slotting, and custom machining jobs.
- Select suitable tool paths, machining strategies, feeds, speeds, and depth of cut according to the material and component requirement.
- Develop safe, accurate, and efficient programs for both repetitive and customized jobs.
- Modify existing programs whenever required to improve productivity or quality.
2. Process Planning and Machine Setup Support
- Plan the most effective machining method for each job to achieve optimum accuracy and cycle time.
- Support machine setup activities including fixture planning, tool selection, job alignment, and work holding methods.
- Prepare setup instructions and machining guidelines for operators.
- Ensure proper selection and usage of cutting tools, drills, inserts, and fixtures.
- Optimize production processes to reduce wastage and improve output.
3. Drawing Interpretation
- Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements accurately.
- Work from CAD drawings, job samples, and manual sketches where necessary.
- Coordinate with design, production, and sales teams to clarify technical details if required.
- Suggest process or design improvements for better manufacturability and efficiency.
4. Production Coordination
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure jobs are completed on time as per schedule.
- Support urgent job requirements by preparing or modifying programs quickly and accurately.
- Ensure smooth flow of work on the shop floor and minimize delays caused by programming or setup issues.
- Work closely with operators and supervisors to ensure proper execution of jobs.
5. Quality Control and Accuracy
- Ensure machined parts meet drawing specifications, tolerances, and finish requirements.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and machine errors through proper programming and process control.
- Support first-piece approval and in-process inspection activities.
- Identify and correct process deviations immediately in coordination with operators and quality personnel.
6. Tooling and Optimization
- Recommend suitable tools and machining methods for different materials and job types.
- Monitor tool performance and suggest timely replacement or improvement in tooling practice.
- Improve cycle time, machine efficiency, and process reliability through better programming and optimization.
- Help reduce material loss and tooling cost by improving programming accuracy and process planning.
7. Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve programming-related machining problems during job execution.
- Support resolution of dimensional issues, tool path errors, surface finish problems, and cycle inefficiencies.
- Work with machine operators and maintenance personnel wherever required to resolve process-related issues.
8. Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain proper records of programs, revisions, job history, and process sheets.
- Organize and store program files systematically for repeat production jobs.
- Prepare reports related to production support, job completion, rejection, or efficiency improvement whenever required.
- Ensure proper backup of important CNC programs and machining data.
9. Team Support and Guidance
- Guide operators regarding correct setup, job execution, and use of approved program versions.
- Provide practical support and technical guidance on machining methods and best practices.
- Help maintain discipline, process compliance, safety, and shop floor coordination.

- Or equivalent CAD/CAM software
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Tool & Die, or related field
- Relevant CNC programming certifications will be an added advantage
Experience Required
- Minimum 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in CNC programming
- Prior experience in machining plastic or polymer components will be highly preferred
- Experience in a production or workshop environment will be an advantage
