JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a GCP Cloud Engineer with a specialization in Vertex AI, Dataproc and DataFlow services to join our dynamic team, driving forward our cloud-based AI and Analytics capabilities.

Role: As a GCP Cloud Engineer at Ford in the HPC department, you will be instrumental in supporting GCP AI services including but not limited to Vertex AI, Gemini Enterprise, Conversational Agent, Document AI and other AI related cloud services. You will also support analytics platforms, with a focus on Dataproc and DataFlow services. You will collaborate with our data engineering and development teams to ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of our data processing pipelines, enabling us to deliver insightful and actionable data that drives innovation and efficiency. You will also help in developing and testing AI agent deployments and workflows as we pivot to agentic AI.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineer, test and manage GCP Vertex AI, Gemini Enterprise, Conversational Agent, Document AI Dataproc and DataFlow services used in high-performance data processing and AI pipelines
  • Maintain Ford custom roles and permissions for all supported services
  • Develop and/or update GCP service documentations and examples
  • Help developers optimize data processing jobs using Spark, Python, and Java.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate data processing pipelines with other cloud services and applications.
  • Utilize Terraform and Tekton for infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient deployment and management of cloud resources.
  • Monitor Vertex AI, DataFlow and Dataproc services metrics, identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and minimal downtime
  • Support different teams in troubleshooting Vertex AI pipelines, DataFlow jobs, Dataproc jobs and other issues
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and best practices, continuously improving our cloud infrastructure and services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with GCP services, especially Vertex AI, Dataproc and DataFlow.
  • Familiarity with GCP Architecture, VMs, VPSC-SC and IAM
  • Proficiency in Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Experience in programming with Python and Java.
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management and Tekton for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Solid understanding and experience with GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with Open AI and/or Azure Open AI.
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Pub/Sub for event-driven systems and messaging.
  • Proficiency in Google BigQuery for data analytics and warehousing solutions.
  • Practical experience with Docker for containerization and deployment.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Run for managing and deploying containerized applications.
  • Experience with Apache Beam for building robust, scalable data processing pipelines.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating complex computational workflows and data processing pipelines.
  • Experience with Astronomer and similar scheduling technology.
