Composite Outfitting 

JOB PURPOSE

• Responsible for completing their job as assigned by Foreman within set targets following set guidelines, processes and procedures to ensure successful completion of work, communicating to the foremen in charge as necessary to meet the assignment adhering to QHSE standards and procedures/policies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 Operation:

• Follow the work instructions given by the Composite Outfitting Supervisor
• Perform fabrication works related to composite boat building 
• Assist the outfitting Supervisor in figuring out the materials required
• Identifies and reports defects, abnormalities & need for spare parts
• Build up good team spirit in achieving the goals
• Communicate effectively
• Adhere to quality norms and standards

Health & Safety

• Ensures compliance with all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures, standards, controls and systems across manufacturing / resource management activities to guarantee employee health and safety, compliance with statutory and classification requirements, delivery of high quality work (in line with quality control standards) .Employee is responsible for the aspects of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment at work and will be accountable for non-compliance of his obligation

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS 

Internal: 

Responsible for constructive and cooperative work relationship with other employees, departments in achieving the common goal by effectively communicating the opportunities and problems.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS  

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Diploma Certificate from an approved ship building apprenticeship program or graduate / diploma of a Fabrication trade school or equivalent experience in same field.

Experience: 

Minimum Experience:

Minimum Experience: : 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in FRP composite boat building, commercial and/or military ship building and/or repairs.

Skills

Job-Specific Skills:

• Familiar with Composite boat building procedure, materials and operations
• Good technical knowledge of fabrication outfitting equipment
• Good knowledge of different hand-tools and types of equipment required
• Ability to diagnose and identify Fabrication outfitting issues in Boats/ships
• Ability to read technical structural diagrams / drawings and technical manual              
• Good technical knowledge of structural outfitting equipment
• Knowledge to perform carpentry or joinery work such as the use of hand tools, power tools, fabrication and installation of wooden furniture, fabrication and installation of wall panel, fabrication and installation of Plexiglas, fabrication and installation of trim/finishing items, installation of formica, and application of stains/polish/waxing on board vessels and in shops
• Multi-tasking and handling several of concurrent priorities;

• Performs structure fabrication, repair, structural outfitting works, alignment procedures like marking, fit up in line with technical drawings and technical specifications.
• Completes the assigned task within deadline and targets provided by Foreman
• Reads and understands the drawings, sketches and documents associated with fabrication.
• Construct / Repairs the ship structural parts, including tack welding of hull plates and equipment foundations.
• Identifies and reports defects, abnormalities & need for spare parts 
• Follow and implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
