About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Compliance Onboarding Specialist / Senior Analyst (Level 1) to support customer onboarding, KYC reviews, and AML due diligence across our payments, digital assets, and financial services ecosystem.

The successful candidate will perform first-line compliance reviews for individual, corporate, SME, and institutional customers, ensuring onboarding decisions are compliant with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks. The role requires strong expertise in customer due diligence, ownership verification, risk assessment, sanctions screening, and regulatory documentation.

This position is ideal for a compliance professional with experience in fintech, banking, payments, or digital asset environments who enjoys investigative work, ownership analysis, and balancing customer experience with regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Onboarding & KYC Reviews

  • Conduct end-to-end onboarding reviews for individual, corporate, SME, and institutional clients.
  • Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) in accordance with AML/CFT requirements.
  • Review and validate customer identification documents, corporate records, ownership structures, and beneficial ownership information.
  • Verify source of funds (SOF) and source of wealth (SOW) documentation where applicable.
  • Ensure customer profiles are complete, accurate, and aligned with internal risk policies.

Risk Assessment & Compliance Controls

  • Assess customer risk based on business activities, geography, ownership structure, transaction purpose, and other risk indicators.
  • Conduct sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and watchlist screening.
  • Investigate onboarding alerts and identify potential financial crime risks.
  • Escalate high-risk customers, unusual ownership structures, and complex cases to Compliance management for further review.
  • Support enhanced due diligence investigations and documentation.

Documentation

  • Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready onboarding records.
  • Document clear risk rationales, onboarding decisions, and supporting evidence.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable AML/CFT regulations, FATF recommendations, and internal compliance standards.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance monitoring activities.
  • Participate in periodic KYC reviews and remediation exercises.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner closely with Business Development, Operations, Product, Customer Success, and Compliance teams to facilitate efficient onboarding.
  • Engage directly with customers to obtain required documentation and clarify information.
  • Support onboarding escalations and provide guidance on KYC documentation requirements.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, Economics, Compliance, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in KYC, AML, customer onboarding, due diligence, or financial crime compliance.
  • Experience reviewing SME, corporate, and institutional customer onboarding cases.
  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT principles, customer risk assessment, and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience analysing ownership structures, identifying Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs), and conducting corporate due diligence.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a regulated environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within fintech, banking, payments, remittance, digital assets, or financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with MAS, FATF, HKMA, or other international AML regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience handling EDD reviews and high-risk customer escalations.
  • Exposure to adverse media reviews, sanctions screening, and ongoing due diligence.
  • Experience using KYC platforms, CRM systems, Salesforce, or compliance workflow tools.

Preferred Certifications

  • CAMS, ICA, CFCS, or equivalent compliance certifications (preferred but not mandatory).
