About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Manager / Taxation Manager to oversee direct & indirect taxation, statutory compliance, regulatory filings, audits, litigation matters, and financial governance for our steel manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in GST, Income Tax, TDS, Companies Act compliance, and legal coordination while ensuring adherence to statutory regulations and minimizing tax risks.
Key Responsibilities
A. Taxation (Direct & Indirect)
Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, Annual Returns, and reconciliations.
Handle Income Tax matters including advance tax computation, TDS compliance, and annual tax filings.
Manage GST and Income Tax assessments, notices, departmental audits, and compliance proceedings.
Conduct regular reconciliation of GST, TDS, vendor accounts, and books of accounts.
Ensure compliance with tax audit requirements and statutory deadlines.
Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, and tax advisors.
Monitor changes in taxation laws and implement necessary process updates.
Maintain proper documentation and records for taxation and compliance purposes.
Handle multi-state GST compliance, ITC reconciliation, and vendor compliance monitoring.
B. Statutory & Corporate Compliance
Ensure compliance with provisions of the Companies Act and other statutory regulations.
Coordinate ROC filings and other statutory submissions.
Oversee PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Labour Law, and other regulatory compliances.
Assist in internal audits, statutory audits, and compliance reviews.
Implement compliance tracking systems and reporting mechanisms.
Develop and strengthen internal controls to ensure regulatory adherence.
C. Litigation & Legal Coordination
Coordinate and manage litigation matters related to GST, Income Tax, NCLT, Negotiable Instruments Act, Stamp Duty, MIDC regulations, and other statutory matters.
Coordinate with advocates and consultants for drafting and reviewing legal documents, agreements, notices, affidavits, and replies.
Maintain litigation MIS and monitor ongoing legal cases.
Support senior management in legal documentation and compliance strategy discussions.
Ensure proper maintenance of legal and case-related records.
D. Team Management & Leadership
Lead and manage a taxation and compliance team of 6–8 members.
Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
Review compliance work prepared by team members.
Train and mentor the team on latest taxation and statutory updates.
Ensure smooth coordination between finance, accounts, operations, and management teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of GST, Income Tax, TDS, Companies Act, ROC compliance, and Labour Laws.
Experience in handling tax audits, departmental notices, and assessments.
Exposure to manufacturing or steel industry preferred.
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple compliances within strict timelines.
Preferred Candidate Profile
CA / Inter CA preferred.
7–10 years of relevant experience in taxation and statutory compliance.
Experience in manufacturing/trading industry will be an added advantage.
Exposure to multi-state GST compliance and litigation handling preferred.
