We're Hiring: Compliance Specialist (Debt Collection)
We're looking for an experienced Compliance Specialist to help ensure our operations meet federal, state, and regulatory standards while fostering a strong culture of compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Oversight
- Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with FDCPA, CFPB guidelines, TCPA, GLBA, UDAAP, and applicable state debt collection laws
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls
Audit & Monitoring
- Conduct internal audits of account activity and communication logs
- Prepare for and manage external audits conducted by clients or regulatory bodies
Complaint Management
- Investigate, document, and respond to consumer complaints from all channels (direct complaints, CFPB, BBB, etc.)
- Analyze complaint trends and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver compliance training for new hires and ongoing employee certification
- Partner with department leaders to promote a consistent and proactive compliance culture
Risk Assessment
- Identify potential compliance risks and escalate concerns with recommended mitigation strategies
- Stay current on regulatory changes and communicate impacts to leadership
Vendor & Data Privacy Oversight
- Ensure third-party vendors handling consumer data comply with company security and privacy standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 35 years of experience in compliance or risk management within the debt collection industry
- Strong working knowledge of FDCPA, CFPB, TCPA, and UDAAP regulations
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
