Job Description

Location: Remote (U.S.) Function: Product & Compliance Seniority: Senior IC / First-of-function

About Certivo

Certivo is an AI-first platform that assembles, validates, and keeps regulatory evidence current so industrial manufacturers can launch on time and ship without documentation holds. We turn messy supplier documents into packet-ready proof across product site market.

Why this role

You'll be the company's point of truth for product safety & qualitytranslating standards into machine-readable rules, designing pragmatic test/inspection plans, and partnering with Engineering so our AI evidence engine can auto-check compliance at scale. Your work directly determines whether customers ship on schedule.

What you'll do

  • Scope market access for real products (e.g., control panels, machinery with drives, lab instruments) across U.S./EU routes: Listing/Field Label, CE LVD/Machinery, UKCA, CB Scheme.
  • Break down safety standards (UL 508A, NFPA 70/79, IEC/EN 60204-1, EN/IEC 61439, ISO 13849-1/-2, UL/EN/IEC 61010-1, UL 61800-5-1) into deterministic, testable rules (scope, data quality, thresholds, calculations, expiry/freshness, aggregation, exceptions, risk scoring).
  • Define the technical file/build packet: wiring diagrams, BOM with safety-relevant parts, rating plate/markings (incl. SCCR where required), OCPD & conductor sizing calcs, enclosure/IP/NEMA evidence, routine electrical test records (withstand & PE continuity), functional-safety artifacts, risk assessments, DoCs/labels.
  • Encode rules for software: specify inputs/units, outputs, messages, and versioning; write rule tables/JSON DSL that our engine and LLM tooling can evaluate deterministically.
  • Design test & inspection plans factories can runlevels, methods, sampling, acceptance limits, records & traceability.
  • Triage supplier evidence (UL/CB reports, test certs, SDS): assess completeness/aging, raise precise requests, and document acceptable alternatives.
  • Partner with Product/Engineering on schemas, audit trails, and change control; create unit-test scenarios so rules stay stable as standards evolve.
  • Join key customer calls (engineering, quality, auditors) to unblock safety/quality topics and align on acceptance criteria.
  • Capture learnings into checklists, templates, and auto-validation hints that become reusable product features.

What great looks like (first 90 days)

  • Two product profiles scoped end-to-end with correct routes/standards and top-risk checks identified (SCCR, PE continuity, creepage/clearance, markings).
  • A balanced ruleset (12) live in our engine with unit tests and clear messages.
  • A factory-ready test plan adopted by a pilot customer.
  • Supplier-evidence triage that measurably reduces last-mile documentation issues.
  • A simple dashboard metric for evidence freshness and risk that the team reviews weekly.

You have

  • 610+ years in product safety/compliance for industrial equipment, machinery/panels, or lab instrumentation.
  • Hands-on with UL/IEC/EN safety standards (at least two of: UL 508A, IEC/EN 60204-1, EN/IEC 61439, ISO 13849-1/-2, UL/EN/IEC 61010-1, UL 61800-5-1).
  • Proven experience assembling technical files, determining SCCR, and leading routine electrical tests (dielectric/withstand, PE continuity), labeling/marking reviews, and documentation sign-off.
  • Systems mindset: comfortable turning narrative requirements into structured data and rules (tables, formulas, thresholds), speaking the language of schemas/JSON/IDs/versions.
  • Clear writing, precise diagrams, and calm communication with engineers, test labs, and auditors.

Nice to have

  • CE Machinery risk assessments; CB Scheme familiarity.
  • Functional safety basics (PL, PFHd, stop categories) and how they intersect with docs/testing.
  • EMC/EMI exposure (coordination with labs and CE/RED inputs).
  • Comfort reviewing SQL-ish queries or Python notebooks to validate assumptions (no heavy coding required).

How we work

  • AI-first: your rules become softwareevaluated by our evidence engine and surfaced via LLM-assisted workflows (with guardrails).
  • Remote-first (U.S.) with Pacific time overlap; light travel to labs/customers (10%).
  • We bias to written plans, quick experiments, and shipping.
