Job Description

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including AML/CFT, sanctions, and maritime trade regulations.
  2. Perform Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) checks for new and existing clients.
  3. Monitor transactions for suspicious activities and escalate potential risks.
  4. Support internal and external audits, ensuring all compliance records are accurate and up to date.
  5. Keep abreast of regulatory changes impacting marine fuel operations.
  6. Conduct credit evaluations for new customers, including financial analysis.
  7. Review and recommend credit limits and payment terms based on risk assessment and continuously monitoring counterparty exposures in often volatile markets.
  8. Monitor customer credit exposure and ensure adherence to approved limits.
  9. Coordinate with cross-functional departments related to the credit limit exceed and when necessary, obtain ad hoc management approval in accordance with the credit policy.
  10. Monitoring receivables and highlight overdue accounts or potential defaults.
  11. Coordinate with cross-functional departments and external parties to resolve issues related to late payments and overdue accounts.
  12. Work closely with Accounts Department and Trading Department to manage credit risk while supporting business growth.
  13. Prepare credit report and provide to the trading department in daily basis prior to the trading time.
  14. Provide timely reporting on compliance breaches or credit concerns.
  15. Recommend mitigation measures to reduce exposure.
  16. Perform periodic review for existing clients, determine basis high-risk, medium-risk and low-risk counterparties.
  17. Maintain proper documentation in line with audit and regulatory requirements.
  18. To support basic trade finance functions such as LC issuance, payment under the LCs.
  19. Ad-hoc duties as may be assigned.

Required Education and Experience .

  • Diploma/Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Maritime Studies, or related field. .
  • 3-5 years of direct credit risk experience and compliance, or trade finance.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including interpretation of financial statements, leverage metrics, and liquidity assessment. .
  • Experience assessing counterparty risk across traders, producers, processors etc.
  • Strong communication skills to explain credit decisions clearly to traders, management and stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced trading environment. .
  • Pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset, balancing risk control with commercial objectives .
  • Integrity, attention to detail, and accountability. .
  • With A Trade Finance background will have an added advantage. .
  • Experience in bunkering, shipping, oil trading, or commodity trading is an advantage.
