Volunteer (Unpaid) Leadership Role

Duration:

15 February 2026 15 April 2026 (Competition Period)

The Satellite Design Challenge 2026 Design Beyond Earth is a research-oriented theoretical satellite design competition encouraging students and early-career professionals to conceptualize advanced space missions beyond conventional Earth observation.

The competition focuses on:

  • System-level satellite design
  • Technical mentorship
  • Research paper writing
  • Publication in official proceedings

Role Overview:

Competition Coordinators will be responsible for the end-to-end operational management of the challenge, ensuring smooth execution across registration, mentorship, manuscript submission, evaluation, and final presentation phases.

This is a leadership opportunity for individuals passionate about space systems, research culture, and academic event management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Registration and Communication Management:
  • Manage participant registrations
  • Respond to participant queries via email and portal
  • Maintain organized participant database
  • Share important updates and reminders

2.Abstract and Manuscript Coordination:

  • Track abstract submissions
  • Organize shortlisted teams
  • Ensure submission format compliance
  • Coordinate with technical review committee

3.Mentorship Phase Management:

  • Schedule webinars and guidance sessions
  • Coordinate between mentors and teams
  • Collect draft submissions (if applicable)
  • Maintain mentorship timeline discipline

4.Evaluation and Presentation Support:

  • Assist in evaluation documentation
  • Coordinate presentation schedule
  • Host or co-host online presentation sessions
  • Manage Q&A logistics

5.Documentation And Proceedings Support:

  • Compile selected manuscripts
  • Assist in formatting official proceedings
  • Ensure certificates and announcements are accurate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have strong interest in space technology or satellite systems
  • Possess good organizational and communication skills
  • Are comfortable handling emails, spreadsheets, and documentation
  • Can manage deadlines and multitask
  • Have prior event management experience (preferred but not mandatory)

Undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and early-career professionals are eligible.

Approx. 68 hours per week during active phases.

Higher involvement required during submission and evaluation deadlines.
