Job Title: Commercial Manager
Role Purpose
To manage and safeguard the commercial and contractual interests of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Commercial Management Administer and manage construction contracts including EPC and FIDIC-based contracts. Interpret contractual provisions, identify risks, and ensure compliance. Handle variations, change orders, claims, and dispute resolution. Ensure proper documentation and contractual correspondence.
- Financial Accounts Coordination Monitor budgeting, cash flow, and profitability. Coordinate with accounts/finance teams for billing, invoicing, and collections. Track receivables and ensure timely payments from clients. Preparing Invoice Register, MIS and Account Reconciliation.
- Bank Guarantees Securities Manage issuance, amendment, extension, and release of bank guarantees (BGs). Ensure compliance with contractual and banking requirements. Track validity and mitigate financial exposure.
- Taxation Compliance (GST Others) Ensure compliance with GST regulations and other applicable tax laws including TDS. Handle tax implications in contracts and cross-border transactions.
- Export / Import Procedures Manage export documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements. Managing Export Contract : giving notices, commercial correspondences , Force Majeure, Time extension and Claims Management. Opening LCs of Vendors, managing compliance regarding import shipments, Completing Bank Formalities.
- Insurance Management Ensuring that all the Insurance in a Project (Marine, Storage, CAR, EAR, etc.) are in place . Handle insurance claims and coordinate with insurers. Ensure adequate risk coverage as per contract requirements.
- Project Controls Reporting Prepare commercial reports, MIS, and dashboards for management. Track project KPIs related to cost, revenue, and risk. Support management reviews with accurate data and analysis.
- Documentation Tools Maintain high-quality documentation using MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Prepare presentations, commercial summaries, and contractual reports. Utilize Excel for financial modeling, tracking, and analysis.
- Time Extension and Claim Management Coordinate with Project Managers/Construction Managers and prepare time Extension and Cost Claims. Defend Liquidated Damages, Consequential Claims and any other claims from Customers and/or Vendors/Sub-Contractors. Must Possess Good Oral and Written Communication Skills
Required Skills Competencies
Sound understanding of bank guarantees and financial instruments
Working knowledge of accounts and project finance
Expertise in GST and regulatory compliance
Familiarity with export/import procedures
Experience in insurance handling for projects
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel (advanced), and PowerPoint
Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
Qualification Experience
Bachelors degree in Commerce with LL.B. from an Institute of Repute or;
Chartered Accountant/Company Secretary/ CMA
