With Control Managers appointed for each Line of Business, Function, and Region, there is a comprehensive coverage and joint accountability model established with business executive that promotes early operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk.

As an Associate within the Wholesale and Commercial & Investment Bank Credit Risk Control Management team, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the firm's control environment across a broad range of risk and governance programs. You willsupport the execution of the Credit Risk control framework, issue management, regulatory initiatives, governance programs, and senior management reporting. Working closely with stakeholders across Risk, Control Management, Product, Technology, Audit, and Compliance, you will help identify and address emerging risks, strengthen control practices, and support adherence to firmwide policies and regulatory expectations. This role offers broad exposure to credit risk processes, governance forums, regulatory and strategic initiatives,and senior stakeholder engagement. It also providesopportunities to drive processenhancements,leveragedata and analytics to inform decision-making, and support the adoption of innovative solutions, including automation,Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Large Language Models (LLMs), and other emerging technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of the Compliance and Operational Risk Evaluation framework through risk assessments, process reviews, control evaluations, and monitoring activities.
  • Maintain risk and control inventories, assessments, and related governance documentation.
  • Assist in the development of control documentation through end-to-end process walkthroughs and deep dives with business stakeholders.
  • Identify control, governance, process and data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and support remediation efforts through closure of audit findings, regulatory observations, and self-identified issues. Perform end-to-end issue management activities, including tracking, reporting, challenge, and validation of Risk-owned issues and action plans.
  • Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness, and assess the impact of business, regulatory, policy, and technology changes on the control environment.
  • Analyze risk and control data to identify trends, emerging risks, thematic issues, and opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
  • Develop and maintain data within Control Management systems for management reporting, metrics, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to support business, regulatory, and control management objectives.
  • Support governance and oversight activities related to User Tools, Estimations, Intelligent Solutions, and other approved technology solutions.
  • Prepare materials and reporting for senior management committees and governance forums, including risk metrics, control performance indicators, issue updates, and regulatory remediation progress.
  • Partner with business, operations, product, and technology teams to support strategic initiatives, regulatory programs, and change management activities.
  • Drive innovation, automation opportunities, reporting enhancements, and continuous improvement by leveraging data, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance risk management practices.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Control Management, Operational Risk, Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, Data Governance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and identify practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate with stakeholders across functions, regions, and levels of seniority.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear executive-level communications, presentations, and reporting materials.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong intellectual curiosity, a continuous learning mindset, and a demonstrated commitment to accountability and execution excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of Credit Risk processes, governance frameworks, and Control Management practices
  • Experience with Risk and Control Assessments, issue management, control evaluation, testing, or related risk management activities.
  • Experience supporting regulatory, audit remediation, or risk transformation programs.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, reporting, automation tools, and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Experience analyzing risk, control, and governance data to identify trends, support decision-making, and enhance reporting.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, and challenge constructively while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
