Job Description

Mission Overview

At AlgoForge Aerospace, we are discarding the thermodynamic limits of legacy propulsion. As a Combustion Devices Engineer, you will own the design, development, and hot-fire qualification of the VORTEX-1 Rotating Detonation Engine (RDE).

You are not just building another rocket engine; you are harnessing continuous supersonic detonation waves to fundamentally rewrite the cost-to-orbit equation. You will work at the bleeding edge of physics, pushing additively manufactured copper alloys to their thermal limits.

Operational Objectives

Own the cradle-to-grave design lifecycle of the VORTEX-1 annular combustion chamber and complex coaxial injector topologies.

Drive high-fidelity CFD simulations to characterize detonation wave propagation, acoustic instabilities, and shock-boundary layer interactions.

Develop advanced regenerative cooling architectures utilizing additively manufactured copper alloys (e.g., GRCop-42) to survive extreme >100 MW/m² heat fluxes.

Architect and execute aggressive hot-fire testing campaigns to validate C* efficiency, specific impulse (Isp), and thermal margins.

Collaborate tightly with the turbomachinery and fluid systems teams to optimize propellant feed pressures and system-level performance.

Mission Prerequisites

BS/MS/PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics with a deep focus on reacting flows and thermodynamics.

Demonstrated history of building and testing physical hardware—we want engineers who have bent metal and lit fires.

Expert-level understanding of compressible flow, shockwave dynamics, and high-frequency combustion instability.

Proficiency in advanced CFD platforms (ANSYS, OpenFOAM) and CAD/FEA software (NX, SolidWorks, ANSYS Mechanical).

Direct experience with cryogenic bipropellant systems (Liquid Oxygen / Liquid Methane heavily preferred).

— Deployment Benefits —

Extreme Ownership

Cradle-to-grave responsibility for critical flight hardware.

Rapid Iteration

Move from CAD to hot-fire in weeks, not years.

Compute Power

Unrestricted access to supercomputing clusters for CFD.

Elite Roster

Work alongside veterans from top-tier aerospace programs.
