Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Consultant with deep, hands-on expertise in the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform to lead the design, implementation and adoption of data governance capabilities across the enterprise. You will work directly with data owners, stewards, architects and business stakeholders to translate governance policy into a working Collibra implementation — operating model, metadata, lineage, workflows and data quality — and make it something the business actually uses.
This is a hands-on delivery role with strong client and stakeholder exposure. You will be equally comfortable configuring the platform and standing in front of a steering committee explaining why it matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead end-to-end implementation and configuration of the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform, including operating model design, communities, domains, asset types, relations, complex attributes and scopes.
- Design and build Collibra workflows (BPMN / Groovy) for data steward approvals, issue management, access requests and onboarding processes.
- Configure and manage the Collibra Data Catalog, business glossary, reference data and policy management modules.
- Implement technical and business lineage using Collibra Lineage Harvester, Edge and custom lineage ingestion.
- Integrate Collibra with enterprise source systems, data platforms and BI tools using the Collibra REST APIs, Edge connectors, Catalog connectors and JDBC ingestion.
- Define and operationalise data governance frameworks: roles and responsibilities, stewardship models, data ownership, policies and standards.
- Establish metadata ingestion pipelines and automate bulk metadata onboarding via APIs and import templates.
- Define and track data quality rules, KPIs and dashboards; support remediation of data quality issues with the relevant data owners.
- Support platform administration: user and group management, roles and permissions, environment promotion and release management.
- Run workshops, training and enablement sessions for stewards and business users to drive platform adoption.
- Produce solution design documents, configuration guides, runbooks and handover documentation.
- Provide advisory input on governance roadmap, maturity assessments and best practice to senior stakeholders.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of overall experience in data management, data governance or enterprise data platforms.
- Proven, hands-on proficiency with the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform — not just usage, but design and configuration across multiple implementations.
- Strong command of the Collibra operating model: asset types, domains, communities, attributes, relations, hierarchies and validation rules.
- Practical experience building and troubleshooting Collibra workflows (BPMN, Groovy scripting).
- Experience with Collibra Catalog, Business Glossary, Data Lineage, Data Helpdesk and Policy Manager.
- Working knowledge of Collibra Edge, Lineage Harvester and connector-based metadata ingestion.
- Solid experience with the Collibra REST API for automation, bulk operations and system integration.
- Strong SQL and a good understanding of data modelling, metadata management and data architecture concepts.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data privacy and regulatory drivers (e.g. GDPR, BCBS 239, CCPA).
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation and written communication skills — able to work with both engineering teams and business leadership.
- Linux skills to manage the on-premise server components.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Collibra Data Quality (DQ) — rule authoring, DQ job configuration, scorecards, and integration of DQ results back into the Collibra Data Catalog.
- Python — for API automation, metadata ingestion scripts and data quality validation.
- Git — version control for workflow artefacts, scripts and configuration-as-code; familiarity with branching strategies and CI/CD pipelines.
- Snowflake — cataloguing and lineage from Snowflake.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure) and modern data stack tooling (dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Databricks).
- Experience with other governance or DQ tools (Informatica, Alation, Ataccama, Great Expectations) for comparative context.
- API Development with Spring Boot.
- Consulting background with experience running client-facing engagements and pre-sales support.
QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
- Collibra Ranger / Collibra Expert certification strongly preferred (e.g. Collibra Certified Ranger, Data Steward, or Workflow Developer).
- Certifications in Snowflake, cloud platforms or DAMA CDMP are an advantage.
