Role Overview

The College Counsellor will play a pivotal role in shaping students higher education journeys, working closely with IB Diploma Programme (DP) students to secure admissions into highly selective global universities. This role requires a strategic, detail-oriented professional with a proven track record of successful international university placements.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic University Placement

  • Drive student placements into top 100 global universities across the US, UK, Canada, Europe, and Asia
  • Build individualized university application strategies aligned with each student's academic profile and aspirations
  • Maintain a strong success record with selective institutions and competitive programs

Expert Application Mentorship

  • Provide high-touch, personalized guidance on:
    • Personal statements, supplemental essays, and portfolios
    • Letters of recommendation strategy
    • Application platforms such as UCAS, Common App, Coalition, etc.
  • Ensure applications reflect authenticity, depth, and alignment with IB learner profiles
IB-Focused Academic Alignment

  • Collaborate closely with IB DP Coordinators, Extended Essay supervisors, and faculty
  • Guide students on subject selection, CAS, and EE to strengthen university applications
  • Align counselling strategies with IB philosophy and assessment frameworks

Global University Relations

  • Build and sustain relationships with admissions officers from leading global universities
  • Organize exclusive university visits, info sessions, and networking opportunities
  • Represent the school at international counselling forums and conferences

Parent Partnership

  • Engage proactively with discerning parent communities
  • Provide transparent, data-driven insights on admissions trends, timelines, and expectations
  • Conduct workshops on evolving global admissions landscapes

Thought Leadership & Branding

  • Contribute to the school's reputation as a destination for global university placements
  • Stay ahead of trends in international admissions, scholarships, and visa processes
  • Drive initiatives that enhance the school's college counselling program

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Education, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in college counselling within top-tier IB/international schools
  • Demonstrated success in placing students in highly selective/global universities
  • Certifications or memberships with recognized bodies (e.g., International Association for College Admission Counseling, National Association for College Admission Counseling) preferred

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills (college essays & profiles)
  • Strong global admissions expertise (US, UK, Canada, Europe, Asia)
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to work with high-achieving students
