Do you have collections management experience, including people management (setting SMART targets, coaching performance, giving feedback, and handling escalations)

This role requires managing French-speaking stakeholders and handling business emails/calls in French. Are you fluent in spoken and written French and able to work daily in a French-English bilingual environment

About the role:

The Credit Control People Manager is responsible for guiding and developing a high-performing collections team while maintaining strong relationships across departments and stakeholders. This role emphasizes setting clear performance expectations, driving challenging goals aligned with strategic priorities, and cultivating a respectful, collaborative, and accountable team culture.

The ideal candidate will coach and mentor team members through active listening, consistent feedback, and effective development plans. They will inspire and motivate individuals to reach high performance standards, demonstrate confidence in managing change, remove obstacles, and constantly improve team processes within a dynamic business environment.

Strong communication skills are crucial for providing clear direction, explaining the business context, and constructively managing challenging situations. French language proficiency (speaking and writing) is mandatory, as the role requires managing teams and stakeholders in a bilingual French and English setting.

Responsibilities

  • Builds positive relationships within the team and across departments, working effectively with others to accomplish tasks. Handles difficult situations while minimizing conflict and treating everyone with respect.
  • Experienced in setting SMART, ambitious goals for self, individuals, and the team. Ensures these goals align with strategic priorities, builds confidence and commitment, keeps individuals focused on priority goals, and communicates high expectations for performance.
  • Utilizes listening and questioning skills to understand others needs. Regularly coaches team members, gives timely and specific feedback about development, provides reinforcement on progress, advocates for high performers and potential within the organization, and encourages personal ownership of development.
  • Provides clear instructions and directions. Effectively listens to and questions to understand their viewpoints, and helps communicate business context for better understanding.
  • Addresses unexpected situations positively, acting swiftly to remove obstacles to progress.
  • Applies change management methodology to change initiatives with a solid understanding of the process.

Requirements

  • Experience in B.COM or Finance, with full or partial accountancy qualifications.
  • Strong proficiency in French (speaking and writing) is mandatory able to confidently handle business communications, emails, and conversations with French-speaking stakeholders and customers.
  • Comfortable working in a bilingual (French and English) environment.
  • Three to five years experience in collections management.
  • Focused team leader with excellent communication skills and drive.
  • Perform well under pressure, maintaining high standards for self and team.
  • Experience in encouraging and supporting team members personal development and positively engaging with others to improve business processes.
