Role Requirements – Cognos Architect
The Cognos Architect Will Be Responsible For
- End to end installation of Cognos on DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
- Ensuring the installation follows IBM best practices, including recommended deployment topology.
- Automating the installation and configuration wherever possible using scripts or deployment templates (PowerShell, Linux shell, or Ansible preferred).
- Leading the migration to new Cognos servers, including environment refresh and configuration replication.
- Performing performance tuning, including memory optimization, dispatcher configuration, service tuning, and cache settings.
- Recommending optimal server sizing, configuration settings, and architectural improvements to ensure stability and performance.
- Implementing and managing load balancing across Cognos Dispatchers/Gateways for improved session distribution and high availability.
- Managing all Cognos service configuration, including security integrations, data source connections, and dispatcher/gateway settings.
- Ensuring high availability and failover configurations are set up as needed.
- Applying Cognos security model best practices (integration with AD/SSO where applicable).
- Supporting content store configuration and optimization, including backup/restore strategy.
- Producing installation documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
- Coordinating with infrastructure, security, and DBA teams to ensure compliance with internal standards.
- Windows IIS to expose the Cognos application for end user.
