Job Description

Company Description 2ndRank provides live 1:1 online tutoring in math, coding, science, and English for students aged 5–16 in the US, UK, and worldwide. The organization focuses on learners who are not yet at the top of their class and supports them in reaching their full academic potential. By limiting enrollment to around 200 students per year, 2ndRank offers a school-like environment with highly personalized attention. Its one-teacher, one-child approach is designed to create space for growth, confidence, and long-term achievement.
Role Description The Coding Tutor (USA Shift) will deliver live 1:1 online coding lessons to students aged 5–16, following a structured curriculum aligned with US time zones. This full-time, remote role includes preparing lesson plans, explaining programming concepts in an age-appropriate way, guiding students through coding exercises and projects, and monitoring their progress. The tutor will adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles, provide constructive feedback, and maintain clear communication with students and, where appropriate, caregivers. Additional responsibilities may include updating learning materials, documenting session outcomes, and collaborating with the wider tutoring team to continually improve instructional quality.
Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of core programming concepts and at least one or two common languages used for teaching (such as Python, JavaScript, or block-based environments like Scratch).
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical topics clearly to children and teens, using engaging, age-appropriate examples and interactive exercises.
  • Experience in online teaching or tutoring, including comfort with virtual classroom tools, screen sharing, and digital collaboration platforms.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate learners who may lack confidence or be new to coding.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection, suitable hardware for video-based teaching, and a quiet, professional remote work environment.
  • Availability to work full-time on USA shifts and manage a consistent weekly schedule of 1:1 sessions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications or proven teaching experience are a plus.
  • Comfort working with diverse learners and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory educational practices.
