About the Role
NextGen Universe is seeking a Coding Instructor & Chess Master Instructor to deliver high-quality online learning experiences to children and young learners.
The role involves conducting live, interactive sessions, guiding students through coding projects and chess activities, adapting instruction to different learning levels, and creating a supportive environment that encourages curiosity, logical thinking, and independent problem-solving.
The ideal candidate is confident in working with children, communicates technical and strategic concepts clearly, and can make learning structured, engaging, and practical.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct live online coding and/or chess sessions for children and young learners.
- Deliver structured lessons based on the assigned curriculum and learning objectives.
- Teach programming concepts, computational thinking, chess strategy, tactics, and game analysis as applicable.
- Guide students through hands-on coding projects, exercises, chess positions, and practical activities.
- Adapt teaching methods according to students age, skill level, learning pace, and individual needs.
- Encourage logical reasoning, problem-solving, creativity, and independent thinking.
- Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Maintain an engaging, respectful, and inclusive online classroom environment.
- Communicate professionally with parents or guardians regarding student progress when required.
- Prepare lesson materials, activities, assignments, and supporting resources.
- Collaborate with the NextGen Universe team to improve curriculum, teaching methods, and learning experiences.
- Maintain reliable attendance and professional standards across all scheduled sessions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of chess, including strategy, tactics, openings, endgames, and game analysis.
- Strong mathematical and logical reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in programming or familiarity with coding platforms such as Python, Scratch, Roblox Studio/Lua, JavaScript, or similar technologies is preferred.
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or training, particularly with children or teenagers.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, structured, and age-appropriate manner.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Patience and the ability to work effectively with students with different learning styles and abilities.
- Comfortable conducting online classes and using digital teaching and collaboration tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage scheduled sessions reliably.
- A degree or academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Chess certifications, recognised chess titles, competitive experience, or relevant coaching qualifications will be an advantage.
