Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL on mainframe systems
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Work with JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS for batch and online processing
- Debug, test, and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analysts, testers, and business stakeholders
- Support system integration, deployment, and performance tuning
- Document technical designs, processes, and changes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in COBOL programming
- Hands-on experience with JCL (Job Control Language)
- Knowledge of DB2, VSAM, and CICS
- Experience with mainframe environments (IBM z/OS preferred)
- Good understanding of batch processing and online transaction systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in banking, insurance, or financial services domain
- Exposure to mainframe modernization or migration projects
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Basic understanding of APIs or integration with modern systems
