CNC VMC Operator

Job Description / Responsibilities

·      Study work orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, and materials to plan machining operations.

·      Set up CNC/VMC machines by installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, and attachments including 3-jaw/4-jaw chucks.

·      Load raw materials and components using hoisting/lifting devices when required.

·      Verify machine settings by measuring first-off components and sample workpieces.

·      Operate CNC/VMC machines to perform turning, milling, drilling, grooving, tapping, facing, and threading operations.

·      Monitor the machining process to ensure accuracy, dimensional tolerance, and consistent output quality.

·      Make offsets and adjustments in tool positions, cutting parameters, feeds, and speeds as necessary.

·      Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.

·      Maintain accurate production reports, tool logs, and quality documentation.

·      Perform routine preventive maintenance of machines and ensure proper housekeeping of the work area.

·      Adhere to safety protocols, PPE usage, and company quality standards during all operations.

·      Communicate effectively with supervisors and maintain continuity across shift changes.

Expected Knowledge / Skills

·      Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T symbols.

·      Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, tool holders, and machining parameters.

·      Understanding of material machinability and appropriate selection of cutting fluids.

·      Hands-on experience with CNC control systems (Fanuc, Siemens, or equivalent).

·      Good understanding of basic programming (G-codes, M-codes) is an added advantage.

·      Ability to use precision measuring instruments.

·      Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.

·      Teamwork, communication skills, and willingness to learn new processes.

·      Basic computer literacy for logging production data.
